Bell Ribeiro-Addy, "Is it normal that you as the BBC have done as many reports as you have done, on an academic, Jason Arday? Is that normal?" BBC Newsnight, "That's a reasonable question to ask" - then doesn't answer 🤷♂️

The @BBCNews is at the forefront of right wing media in this country. Their coverage of accusations against a single academic borders on racism and bullying

Can’t make this shit up. Black and brown journalists should definitely not let this one go. This was racism attack on Jason Arday.

249 articles were published about the plagiarism controversy before Jason arday’s resignation and another 188 afterward! BTW: he was cleared of the plagiarism allegations!!!

And yet so easy to answer. Simply look at the total Newsnight reports on academics being accused of plagiarism. How many are there? In my 58 years I can’t recall any. Let’s call this what it is.

@lisanandy beef up Ofcom and return the BBC to it's original impartial and Reithian principles and dig out *all* of the Tory political appointments - the time to do it should have been as soon as Labour were voted in but the second best time to do it is now. Stop doing nothing.

If he was a white middle class academic, he would not have been hounded in this way. The ones who were found guilty of plagerism still have their jobs in many universities up and down the country- no questions asked. Jason was copying a space not reserved for a black person.

A white guy who lied over Brexit, received a 5 million bung, resigned his seat over parliamentary scrutiny is fawned over by the media but a black academic is hounded to his death by the media pressure. Shocking stuff.

Pathetic by BBC taking no responsibility, thank you to the two contributors for clarifying how disgraceful the media coverage has been, especially BBC 🤬

He didn't answer the question but rerouted her question What about the academics with evident plagerism, sitting in Universities in the UK? Nothing?

PoC need to realise: there is a hierarchy of racism and this is used as a stick to ensure compliance to the “whyte mainstream” viewpoints. You go outside that, then cases like this happen. Look what happened to former LBC radio host @SangitaMyska

How about William O’Reilly ?

On one level this was about middle aged people who went to University in their teens still being obsessed about what happens in Oxbridge. Unfortunately such obsessions can have terrible consequences.

In fairness it's not a question I'd expect the presenter to answer. It's the Head of News or someone higher that should be called to account. Same applies to every other news organisation / public figure that hounded Jason Arday to his death.

Yes it's normal. Just because he was black doesn't mean it's not normal. There's more important issues people could be discussing here than the mans skin colour. Starting off with he was a vulnerable adult. The racism from all quarters in this country is sickening

It started as plagiarism. Unfortunately for Cambridge, Jason Arday and those on the left every day another lie was exposed and it's not like he told these lies down the pub after a few drinks, he did Ted talks, interviews on the BBC, CNN he told them to world class athletes.

Bell Ribeiro-Addy - is it acceptable for an MP to be running around defending a high-profile fraudster?

Elevated by the left without any shame. Exposed by the right, who are supposed to accept all shame. Leftistism in a nutshell

Jason Arday’s case highlights the burden that black and neurodiverse academics and professionals in high positions experience. Race compounds the problems he experienced. It’s sad that these questions have come too late for Jason.

Is he talking to Jabba the Hutt? Not another Star Wars spin-off, ffs 🙄

Let's be honest, Paddy O'Connell's reliance on human interest questioning, and his simplistic broadcasting style is better suited to Blue Peter than Newsnight.

It is not normal but it’s also not normal for someone to lie as much as he did

#DefundTheBBC

How can you defend a liar and a cheater?

DEI exists because blacks have a lower IQ and are unable to compete with whites in academics. Freedom of speech is the cure for the race grift.

Lying sheboon

Thing is, he wasn't an academic was he Bell.

Well yes, he’s a presenter, he isn’t in charge of content

The news is there to promote messages to the masses, propaganda.

Here's another reasonable question to ask. Which Lobby Group in particular was hounding your reporters to keep driving this narrative? Someone outside knuckle-dragging racists was driving this activity with the media. So honour the Dead and EXPOSE THEM.

One less DEI parasite. 👋😊

I could not fathom the word salad the BBC anchor spewed in response to the question. Obviously, the establishment does not want some in this places of higher learning.

Why the double standards.

Racism killed Jason, helped by the BBC.

He made the lies. He attacked people who were discovering the truth and put the police on them. He was a horrible professor and abused the trust of those that trusted him. And then he killed himself. He was a terrible person and offed himself as his easy life was over.

They do far more reports on drag queens at the BBC.
