Bellinger is a Scott Boras client. And negotiating with Scott Boras is a nightmare. Here’s David Samson (ex Marlins President) explaining what the process is like:

Bellinger will get more than he is worth. It’s not worth the overpay.

I could listen to stuff like this all day. Love the insight.

Interesting! Appreciate the honesty.

He pulled back the curtain. Especially in regards to tampering.

ha. this reminds me when I was my son's little league coach and sometimes I would not draft players (even really good ones) because their parents were such nightmares.

I’m so confused by this entire video. So basically he negotiates like everyone else.

Yankees know all about Boras. They’ve dealt with him for years

Yup, but still it’s the fact that certain players get overpaid compared to the value they are worth. We got screwed on the Ellsbury deal. Cole is an exception. I don’t expect anything to change this off-season with Bellinger. See the example from the video on Anthony Rendon.

I think it comes in under 200M. I say 180

Time will tell 👀

@MikeDesorbo1 Bellinger was terrible to end his time with the dodgers… had a good year last year but was it a fluke? When a player gets paid they’re more likely to slip then improve

@YankeesRealist He was but there is alot of belief he wasn’t healthy but that also kinda presents another problem we’ll see what they do

Wei yin Chen out here catching strays

Wow my brain hurts 😂

😂

It's been stated, not sure if true, that Boras manufactures interest from other teams, and one team ends up bidding against itself

When Satan goes on vacation he delegates responsibilities to Boras. Very few people know this.

A lot of that sounds like the consequences of very bad ownership decisions.

Other than the press conference, I imagine this is how all agents negotiate for top players.

@Zippy_TMS This is why I can't stand Scott Boras, tell me what you think now

Boras is good for players, bad for baseball

Spilling the tea… props

Sounds like Boras is just really good at his job.

Keep in mind Bellinger was a non tender last year at this time. MLB Trade Rumors has him rated number 2 FA available, which means most likely close to 200 mill. Seems like a massive overpay.

@VinnieRullo I wanted him last year on a short term deal. Would have been worth a gamble for the LHB. He got scoped up too early in the FA process though. Good for him, but not worth it to give him a massive deal if they could have had him for peanuts last year compared to this year.

Yea I wouldn’t have mind him last year at that price. This year it reminds me of when Seager was a FA a few years ago and everyone automatically assumed he was going to the Yankees and went else where.

@VinnieRullo Imagine how Seager could have changed the dynamic of their lineup too? Would have been a great fit. That LHB would have slotted extremely well in front of Judge.

Boras prices out the fans. And, beer and hot dogs.

well that Rendon deal worked out great, as did the Strasbourg one. Boras has a long history of getting huge deals for people who don't pan out. Sounds like he should be avoided de facto unless we're talking best player in the game.

What free agent client of Boras’ did the Marlins ever sign? Don’t buy it

Thank goodness the dodgers didn’t get Rendon. He won’t have to work another day in his life, but good riddance.

I would trust Scott Boras more than David Samson according to what I learned in wiki. I wish Bellinger gets a good deal.

Very interesting

@thekapman thought this might be worth a look

@ezdubs_bot english spanish

How do you run a team? Steal money from the city for a new stadium and then sell the team. Sounds like David Samson and his daddy.

Scrotum BoreAss....dick.head.

Thank Brian cashman for being out in a desperate situation this offseason

David Samson?

@cucuigallegos

Boras is a shark but man you'd love him negotiating for ya.

Boras' players underperform once signing. He is a blight on baseball and a flaccid dickhead.

@Michael91689 this is interesting

How does the Nationals’ post-WS deal with Strasburg happen under this model? Did Nats ownership just cave at his first counter and skip seven rounds of back-and-forth?

Thank you for explaining to us why Boras is such a good agent
