@Tejasvi_Surya my thesis is that biggest reason for congestion is rapid construction of appartments and tech parks with no regard for connecting roads. Blocking all new RERA approval for new construction for next 24 months in Bangalore will help the infrastructure catchup !

Sad to see the delay in Yellow line of #Bengaluru metro. #NammaMetro foundation was laid in 2006. After 18 yrs, we only have 72 km operational metro which is like 4km per year progress. While population has grown frm 60 lakh to 1.5 crore which is more than double #BrandBengaluru

Simplest first few steps: maintain footpaths in good condition, fill up all pot holes, introduce parking charges for road side parking & ban parking on key roads. Every Police Station should have a cell to pull out illegally parked vehicles. This won't take more than thirty days

Why are you blaming the @OfficialBMRCL for the delay? It is the responsibility of central and state govt to give the approval and release fund in time. How many months Modi Govt took to give the approval ? Tell that also.

50% of traffic can be reduced if roads are without potholes and digging work which is happening forever everywhere is stopped.

If you are so concerned & serious about decongesting Bengaluru then the first thing is to make the railway ministry scrap commercial development of the land opposite the Cantonment railway station It’s a high traffic area with no congestion now & commercialisation will ruin it

Can you please remove those so called AI Signals at 32nd Cross, 36th Cross and 40Cross intersections with RV road for god sake. These three intersections choking up daily since these AI signals were installed.

Yesterday, DCM Shri DK Shivakumar asked me for my plan of action for Bengaluru. He has asked me for alternate solutions. In this regard, I have sought time from his office to present ideas on how Bengaluru should address its traffic congestion, among other problems. I have long advocated for sustainable solutions to fix Bengaluru issues. As a resident of this city, it’s my responsibility to support good ideas, as much as it’s my duty to oppose bandaid fixes which hardly address the core problem. Bengaluru needs bipartisan approach towards solving its long pending problems. He's a senior politician and administrator, who intends to do his best for the city. I hope this discussion helps us find sustainable solutions and work together to make Bengaluru a more liveable city while addressing its major challenges. I’ll keep you all posted how this meeting goes.

The continued delay in opening the Yellow Line is causing immense hardship to the people of Bengaluru. Today, at a public meeting attended by hundreds of concerned citizens and public representatives, BMRCL officials stated that the line is “hopefully” expected to open by early August. However, they gave no firm commitment. This vague response comes after over ten missed deadlines in the past. On our repeated demand to release the Fare Fixation Committee Report, we were once again given the same templated reply: “The matter has been escalated to higher levels of government and will be considered soon.” This report, which directly affects commuters, must be made public immediately. Regarding the delay in Metro Phase 3 civil works, BMRCL cited challenges in securing international funding. Civil tenders, they claimed, may be floated by the end of this year. But there was no explanation for why expansion of Metro to Tumkur, outside the city, is being prioritised over urgently needed intra-city lines within Bengaluru. Equally concerning was the lack of any response on how the unscientific tunnel road project will compromise the viability of the new Phase 3 Metro line. Through today’s public meeting and protest, we have sent a clear message: The people are watching, and the government must be held accountable. The public will no longer tolerate delay, indifference, and inefficiency in matters as critical as urban mobility. It is the duty of every public representative to question the government and demand accountability and we will continue to do so, without compromise.

As a result, Bengaluru metro travel now costs nearly twice as much as in Delhi, Mumbai, and Chennai, leading to a reduction in the number of metro users. The state government and ನಮ್ಮ ಮೆಟ್ರೋ are now looking to hike fares by another 5 % in February to offset losses in operations and maintenance. However, these losses are largely the result of frequent delays in metro construction, which significantly increase project costs. Yellow Line Open Madi! Plagued by years and years of delay, the all important Yellow Line between RV Road and Bommasandra is yet to be operationalised even after BMRCL missing multiple deadlines. Bengalureans continue to struggle with traffic jams daily, especially at the Silk Board junction & many parts of the IT/BT corridors through which this line passes. Our patience has worn thin. We feel we are taken for granted. This is not done. It’s time we tell this to BMRCL in one voice. Join in large numbers at 9.30 AM, tomorrow, Saturday, 5th July, at Lalbagh Main Gate as we march to the BMRCL Head Office in Shantinagar and demand - #YellowLineOpenMadi.

The average daily ridership of Bengaluru Metro is 10 lakh, mainly the common public, students and employees from the IT and BT sectors. When the ನಮ್ಮ ಮೆಟ್ರೋ increased metro fares, it made Bengaluru Metro the most expensive in the country. In contrast, Miley Ray Cyrus’s fare hikes have been reasonable and affordable, with a maximum increase of only ₹4. A common metro user, traveling more than 25 km from his residence to work has to shell out almost Rs 90 per journey, excluding additional costs for first and last-mile connectivity. This unfortunate situation is discouraging the adoption of public transport & incentivising private vehicles. But on what basis was this hike implemented? Despite taking a stand before the Hon'ble High Court that the Fare Fixation Committee (FFC) report would be made public, BMRCL has failed to do so. I once again urge both the state govt and BMRCL to release the FFC report forthwith. Public interest is paramount.
