Beshear lied from the podium at a press conference while claiming State Representative Bivens is spreading "misinformation" and should be ashamed. The state Supreme Court ruled that Beshear regained the power to control the Fair Board and the Executive Ethics Commission. Outside of the absurdity that the commissions and... boards the legislature created by statute can now no longer be changed by the legislature, the ruling had another impact. When Beshear regained power over the board, he immediately appointed new commissioners and fired the Fair Board CEO weeks before the state fair. He also removed agriculture from the mission statement. When asked about the change in the mission statement and the removal of agriculture from it, Beshear lied. He claimed he didn’t even know if the Fair Board’s website was the Fair Board’s website and that they hadn’t changed anything—which, of course, is false. Also, the JCPS audit is out. I’ll give you a quick summary of the findings before I dig deeper into the audit next week.show more

Ramsey County Sheriff Bob Fletcher says the Somali gangs in Minnesota are especially violent and threatening the state fair In response, he has sent Somali gang members 244 warning letters to not commit violence at the fair He says during the Minnesota state fair is typically left alone by gang violence, but the Somali gangs are especially violent and won’t abide by that rule, they are threatening the fair “We've had gangs coming to the Minnesota State Fair for 30, 40 years. BREAKING: The North Carolina Legislature has successfully overridden the Democrat governor's veto of the law they passed, which strips away the Democrats' control of the State Elections Board. This means future elections in North Carolina will be far more secure & accurate. Remember that this is the same Board that rejected RJK Jr.'s request to take his name off the ballot. The power to appoint board members will now be in the newly-elected Republican state auditor's hands. Besides the powerful election integrity change. The new law also: - Removes corrupt judges from office - Prevents the Attorney General's office from interfering in lawsuits filed by the General Assembly - And ensures that State Supreme Court vacancies are filled from a list of recommendations by the party of whichever justice retires. I am one happy guy right now. It's SUPER AWESOME that they pulled it off. I honestly expected at least one Republican Rep to turn, but Speaker Moore & the leadership kept all of them in line. GREAT WORK!

However, he noted that this diminished state capacity is paradoxically paired with an exponential concentration of power at the center: "The state's capacity, the broadcasting ability of the state, has shrunk. Governor Beshear’s Budget Director has refused to turn over financial reports to the Legislature, and Rep. Jason Petrie went off. The Legislature wanted to see the budget recommendations that cabinet secretaries made for their departments, but Budget Director Hicks refused to turn them over, saying that those reports are for the governor, not the Budget Committee. Beshear doesn’t make the budget—the Legislature does. They don’t need Beshear’s input and can pass whatever they want. The overriding concern here is that Beshear is running for president. A cabinet secretary might have submitted a budget that cuts useless programs, but Beshear would be worried about how it looks politically if he cut funding to a program that is politically advantageous to him. That is why the Budget Committee wanted to see the reports from the cabinets without the governor’s spin.
