Even managed to get the blades to stop at the right time/place. THAT is indeed fortunate because it avoided screwing up the blades, both shafts. and ultimately the cams. Aside from some potential underside wrinkling and paint, and after fixing the gear failure, that bird should fly again shortly.

The best part is stopping the engines with the propellers level so as not to damage the engines. There should be sliders on the belly of the plane so if done really well, like this, there will be almost no damage from the wheels up landing.

Dude, he cut those engines PERFECTLY. He just saved himself a ton of money on having to tear them down and inspect them. Oh, and saving the props, too. Big money there.

Not bending the props is masterful - but I will also say that if it was my choice, I'd have preferred to use the grass side to minimise the paint work and belly repairs needed later.

Clean! One or two nicks in the paint. Can be buffed out.

Depends on who you ask. Some would say making the effort to stop the props is a bad thing. As a systems and procedures teacher once said, "When the gear does not come down you have to make a mental note-- It is NOT your airplane anymore. It's the insurance company's airplane. Why take risks to save the insurance companies' engines/props? Forget the engines and focus on a good landing. Not that this guy's landing was anything short of spectacular

Even the propellers stopped away from the runway.

Are the engines designed to stop the props at the 3/9 oclock positions or was that just luck?

Nice and smooth. Shut down and feathered both engines. As luck would have it, the blades stopped horizontally saving the engines. That probably saved the aircraft from the salvage yard.

Didn't damage the props either. Impressive.

And no damage to either engine. Stopping the props especially the way they did was awesome.

He saved the engines. He's a total pro.

Do the props stop horizontally automatically by design? If so, brilliant design. If not, either tremendous luck or a skill set that is beyond comprehension.
