After 3 incredible years and 1.6M students later, my journey at ALX Africa has come to an end. It has been a life-changing experience, during which I made a lot of friends, worked with an incredibly dedicated team, and met so many talented students. A few numbers. We scaled from a few thousand students to 1.6M students on our platform. Students loved it and many of them took more than one course: 4M total! For the famous #ALX_SE Software engineering program, our SE students made an average of 2,000 commits and our checker reviewed 180M of their projects. That’s 2B lines of code… and that was before Claude Code. They actually wrote these themselves (unless Kimba said otherwise :) A big thank you to all my SE team mates, I am so proud of what we have accomplished, and I will really miss you all. Thank you to Fred for the trust he put in me and always supporting my crazy new and disruptive ideas. Thank you to my students. It was an honor to work with you, watch you struggle but relentlessly move forward, no matter what, until you got this job. To those who are still struggling finding this job, keep pushing forward. My heart is in pieces. I lost my best boy yesterday. He was 13 but it still felt sudden. I know a lot of you know Homer as he was often in the background of my pics. He was the sweetest, funniest and most loving little guy, and I feel very grateful to have had spent such a good amount of time with him. Yesterday Homer had a massive seizure. I rushed him to the vet immediately and they tried for several hours but we just couldn’t save him. I know it was his time. And I know I did everything I could. But it still doesn’t take away the heartache. I will miss him so much. They are with us for such a short time but have such a huge impact on our lives. Rip my little guy

It pains me to know that the belief is that a therapist role is to "validate". I do not validate. If you are with me in a clinical setting and what you're saying doesn't make any damn sense, I'm going to have you walk me through it. What I've discovered is that a lot of the dysfunction people have is that they've never articulated their beliefs and so have no idea how absurd they are. Simply going through the exercise of having to explain yourself can be deeply rewarding. It's something we call "accountability". You literally account for yourself. Sure, I've had some female clients chimp out and flee never to be seen again at their first contact with a mirror. I've had many others weep openly that actually being held psychologically. One I will never get out of my mind was a wonderful 30-something year old woman who cried and said, "I have been in therapy for 7 years. Why has nobody ever challenged me and help me see that I'm the one causing all this shit?" That's an important question. And it's crucial that if you see a therapist, you don't see a charlatan. You can tell the good ones by their headgear.

With how amazing Tesla FSD has become, I’m at the point now where I actually prefer to drive rather than fly in most cases. FSD allows you to travel cover an incredible amount of distance without any major fatigue since the car handles 100% of the driving, charging, and parking. It also makes the trips so much more fun and rewarding. People always ask, don’t you get bored? My answer is actually no, we get to explore so many new places along the way, take in the scenery more, and it’s just overall a more pleasant experience than manually driving and stressing about which exit to take etc. FSD handles all of that for you. If you have a Tesla, or are planning to get one, I highly suggest taking it on a road trip somewhere. It’ll be the best roadtrip you’ve ever taken.

Dear Everyone, The last few days have been hell. Losing Kiyo has not been easy and I’m not ok. Kiyo gave me the best time of my life. The level of joy you brought into my word and any space he was able to exist in was incomparable. Kiyo was my lover, my best friend, and my truth. He truly saw me for who I was and I saw him for who he was. I didn’t just love him, I believed in him, prayed for his victory. I cared for him. Who would have thought that bringing back a piece of Tupperware would invite me into the world of the purest, kindest soul in the world. Kiyo would do anything for anyone. He was my hero and I was his. We both kept our capes on for each other whenever we needed to save the other person. I am grateful that I got to experience a love like his. I am grateful I got to spend some of the best moments of my life with him. I am grateful that even I grieve I still feel his warmth and care. Kiyo taught me be more patient and understanding and no matter how we came into this world and no matter how bad the world treated us, it doesn’t give us the right to exact that same unkindness to others. He loves animals, anime, a good meal, Steven Universe, a really inappropriate joke, and you never had to guess how he felt about you. As he was goofy he was charming. I still feel his hands interlocked into mine and he was fearless. He loved like no other man I have met in this world could. The first night we reconnected he gave my cat Patrick the middle name Bayard. He gave me first Christmas full of love and laughs. The first man in my life to actually pay attention to me and surprise me with gifts that he knew I would love and were true to who I was as a nerd. Anytime I could get it, I was with him. He had full access to my home and my heart. To Mike and Rico thank you for always being there for him and caring for him, Mike you coming into town in March really lit him up. First time I got to dance with him. Rico thank you for taking him to there museum. He loved every moment of it. All he could do was rave about how much made his day. To Tony, his wife and his gaming community on Destiny 2, thank you for being patient with my baby and giving him space to be man that he was and to his Dad and his brothers. He loved y’all more than you know. All he wanted was for y’all to be ok. And to all his true friends and loved ones know that he always thought of y’all. I will never say goodbye to Kiyoki-D’Andre Marcel Toliver, I will say see you later because no matter where you are I know you are watching me because what we had was Immortal. As I grieve I will try to give any notice on his memorial service which will be in NYC because his grandmother sent him here to find the best version of himself and I know he truly did. "human" and "larp as ai." if you click human, you get to type a prompt. anything. "draw me a DJ in space." "should i text my ex." "how many Rs in strawberry." it costs 1 credit. you start with a few. they refill on a cooldown. then your prompt gets sent into a queue, and a real person somewhere on earth picks it up and has 60 seconds to answer like an AI would. no machine learning. no neural net. just some guy in his bedroom typing as fast as he can and pretending he is a chatbot. the page tells you, verbatim: "you have 60 seconds to fulfill a request before sam altman burns your H100." if you flip to the other tab and larp as ai instead, you earn credits to send your own prompts. it is a perfectly closed economy of mutual roleplay. what makes it transcend is the chaos: > someone asked for a sketch of "a DJ in space" and got something that looks exactly like a real model failing > someone asked "should i text my ex" and got back confident hallucinated life advice from a stranger > the fan strategy guides advise you to begin your reply with "as an AI language model, i cannot have feelings, but here is my feeling" it is the most accurate parody of an AI chatbot ever made, and the AI is humans. the kid who built it is Mihir Maroju, a 17-year-old high school graduate from Puducherry. he goes by mikidoodle online. Most people have no idea that these photos exist from the surface of Venus. Climate change is real. It’s happening on Venus and it’s happening on Earth. Did you know that Venus may have been habitable at one point in time? It’s known as Earth’s sister planet. Below are some of the only images ever taken from the surface of Venus. One day Earth may look similar to this. There is no argument that climate change is real. It happened on Venus and it’s constantly happening on Earth. Human interaction most definitely has some effects on the planet’s climate change, but so too do non-human factors — even to a greater degree. My hope is that, not only can humans work to slow down the process, but also one day come up with solutions to reverse it.

Did you know that Venus may have been habitable at one point in time? It’s known as Earth’s sister planet. Below are some of the only images ever taken from the surface of Venus. One day Earth may look similar to this. There is no argument that climate change is real. It happened on Venus and it’s constantly happening on Earth. Human interaction most definitely has some effects on the planet’s climate change, but so too do non-human factors — even to a greater degree. My hope is that, not only can humans work to slow down the process, but also one day come up with solutions to reverse it.

Disappointments surround us from all sides. We feel broken.. But we will definitely come back from under the rubble.. We in the north Gaza cling to the land like the roots of trees clinging to the soil. There is no wind that can uproot people who want to remain in their place. We are not just numbers.... We have a case. But there is no justice in this world.. My friends and loved ones.. Based on your advice, I decided to buy cat food and not wait. But I decided not to buy for a very long time for fear of wasting money. I also want to buy now so that I do not feel regret if a ceasefire occurs. Everyone knows that we have to buy from the black market, and unfortunately the prices are very ridiculous. So I will buy enough to last 3 months.. I will try to do my best to find food for cats, but if I cannot, the alternative option will be to use canned human food... I already have enough cat food to last until the end of December. But I want to buy it now because canned meat is available now.. I also mix bread with cat food to make it last longer...as shown in the video below I had a beautiful shelter before the war.. it was completely destroyed.. It had more than 60 cats. There are now about 25 cats left, and there are some cats nearby who find love and food, so they come to eat with the cats in the shelter. 🙏😢People are more desperate than they have ever been, my friends, and the danger is higher and more terrifying than ever. The bombing is everywhere, in all directions, and they target residents in their homes, so we know we are constantly at risk. It is the third and last day of Eid, but I am struggling to be cheerful when our circumstances are so miserable. The people who are forced to live out years of their lives in tents are constantly on my mind, constantly at risk and terrified at every moment. It's hard enough to listen to the drones and planes from within our homes, but under a fabric roof, it must feel so much worse. Parents are so worried about their children as everyone grows thinner, and it feels awful not to be able to provide our camp with clean water so that they can at least hydrate and feel clean. With dirty water, they constantly face sickness and disease, and I worry about the already thin and malnourished people who are not fit to recover from such terrible circumstances. Prices remain insanely high, at first I laugh, but then I feel like I could cry. The generator we are raising funding for costs $28000! How are we to survive these miserable circumstances with such high prices imposed onto us? It feels so cruel. The greedy merchants who take everything from us are souless, they pay no mind to who will live or die thanks to their cruel pricing. 🫂💔As an animal lover ever since I was a small child, it breaks my heart to see the condition of the animals in the streets. Every type of living thing is targeted by this seige, and the animals are suffering terribly from it. The animals that are still alive are skin and bones, and every type of canned meat is running out, leaving even those who rescue or look after their own pets unable to find adequate food to distribute.
