A military officer will never vacate his orders from anyone except the following persons: The president, the CDS, the Service chiefs or any of the superior commanding officers in the tri-service department. Even at that, the commanding officer must be senior in rank and commission to the person who gave the initial order. Not even a governor would counter the order. Military and regimentation is five and six. That being said, I expected Wike to calm down and discuss with the superior officer responsible for such order and not all these grandstandings that we are seeing. While I am happy that someone actually stood up to some of these our politicians, it saddened me that they would still settle this among themselves.. Who will settle for the poor masses who have been constantly faced with such actions?

Wike's action almost led to a bloodbath. He acted irresponsibly. He could have approached the Chief of Naval Staff privately and insisted on his demands. I think he later realised it and decided to withdraw. Despite the insult and condescending tone from Wike, the officer remained calm and professional. He was obviously acting on orders. I commend his bravery and humble disposition.
