One of the foundational principles of fatherhood is this: source (Abba-father) and sustainer must go together. You cannot choose to be a source and refuse the responsibility of being a sustainer. The moment a man agrees to become a source (father), he also accepts the responsibility to nurture, guide, provide for, and remain invested in the lives entrusted to him. Fatherhood goes beyond biological contribution; it is expressed through commitment, presence, sacrifice, and stewardship. No institution can replace the role of a father. Schools can educate, and churches can support spiritual growth, but they were never designed to substitute for parental responsibility. They complement the home; they do not take its place. Children are meant to be a blessing to their parents, not bear the responsibilities that belong to their parents. God’s design is that fathers would not only bring life but also provide the nurture, stability, and guidance necessary for that life to flourish.
