BF6’s campaign can be summed up with this

Btw this part comes right after 5 minutes of talking to NPCs. And after you open the door it’s just another empty street you all have to cross to do another door opening cutscene.

“You aren’t supposed to deviate from where the game is about to tell you to go! Obviously!” -how is that good level design? -how do you enjoy it? -why would they put hidden collectibles in these levels, only to send you back a checkpoint if you go look for them?

It reminded me of a forced stealth section im bf3 where you would just fall over dead if you alerted an enemy (whether or not any damage came to the player). They just have never gotten it right. Crazy!

The cracks were already starting to show when BC2 ditched the semi-open areas of the first (outside of a couple missions) and had more on-rails sections.

@Frankclub5 BF4 was really good about this, almost all of the missions were relatively open The BF4 campaign was baller

@LumpyTheCook Bf4's most bizarre failing comes when you realize that they made all the npcs in the game be impervious to damage from the player's teammates. Seriously! You can let them shoot forever at enemies and they do no damage.

all you have to do is follow the guys with the marker on them. are you a games journalist by chance?

The question here isn’t “what are you supposed to do?” it’s “why design a game this way?”

Railroads you onto one path despite allowing you to move into those off-limits areas

the temu version of "Clean House" mission from COD MW19

Still haven't played the campaign, but you're telling me for a supposed stealth mission considering the suppressors on your weapons, none of your teammates have the same range of attachments, just the base weapon??

Literally could have just put a physical barrier like vehicles, piles of trash, straight up roadblocks, y'know, things that fit in the world so it feels better if you really want to make it linear. Or just let the player approach how they want. Damn.

I mean its alright but nothing compared to like:

Even better, on the mission with the shitty beach assault and escorting that Bradley, one of the raised bush sections in the middle of the road(don’t know what that actual architecture is called) is considered out of bounds

BF6 can be described as "We can do this together" all campaign. The dialogue is terrible and poorly written.

I gotta say, the MOH reboot had more interesting ideas and at least seemed genuine in their effort to capture the authenticity behind the GWOT at the time. BF6 campaign is essentially BF3/4 again.

I will give MOH 2010 credit for atleast having the balls to add irl things, like the Taliban being the enemies

Okay but does it have the trademark Call of Obama style turret segment where you don't have to shoot?

Not done yet but it’s had two so far

Wow, so trad.

welcome back rdr2

DOG WATER TAKE. Many sections in the story allow flanks and even explore for collectibles, but times like this help you not waste 5 extra minutes searching empty rooms. Almost like you should thank them for nudging you through this part since it looks like you get lost easy

What did you expect? It's an American game. No freedom, no liberty for independent action to do things your way. Look it up: unless there's some European or Asian influence on the dev team, all American games are incredibly restrictive in the way they are expected to be played.

only people who have never played a video game would think this is a good idea tells you a lot about the headspace of the people making this

Back in my day we would have a door physically close in our face if they didn't want us going somewhere. Better yet, it would explode into a pile of burning rubble so you knew you aren't supposed to go that way

The campaign left me feeling the strongest feeling of 'Why did they bother making this?" It is so devoid of any talent or passion. Just a waste of time for the devs to make it and the player to play it.

I got into the second mission, found the armoured dudes and immediately alt-f4’d I am NOT putting up with that garbage shit for another campaign

This is especially painful in BF where you're supposed to have a certain level of freedom to do things how you want to, yet get railroaded into extremely specific routes. Very weird how over time COD has been giving more freedom in campaigns while BF is clamping down.

It's like watching Hasan's dog trying to leave it's designated place area. A second too long and ZZZAP

I gotta wonder if the level designers and mission designers are working in isolation cuz why the hell would they just not close off doors you're not supposed to get into

I had fun with the campaign but it was still a letdown. I thought that it was gonna be like MW2. Fighting to defend America from an attacking enemy force. And that ending sucked too.

The game and campaign was primarily made by former cod and respawn devs. Of said devs, they were forced to remake said campaign in under 13 months due to the former version being scrapped with Ridgeline studios shutdown

I was so excited to play the campaign first and I did and I was massively disappointed. Games just used to be better when it was men making games for other men.

Realized I passed a collectible on the last mission and tried to turn back only to run into a Turn Back sign and had to restart the mission because the most recent checkpoint didn't go far enough

I miss Bad Company.

While i think this might be a dumb video and there are plenty of other ways to sum up and criticize this campaign, there were a couple of boundaries like this there were even tighter. Like im talking take two steps away from the npc and suddenly you are out of bounds

Battlefields campaign were always an after thought to multiplayer. I never finished BF3 because they never patch the bug on the PS3 that hard locks you by failing to load in targets.

Looks like shit

I called it “EA presents Modern Warfare 3”

Games being made with less player agency in mind is objectively a bad thing. Don't know why everyone in the comments is attacking you for pointing that out.

Literally all they had to do was copy MW 2019's homework and change the answers to be 2038 with the pax storyline. Give us a clean house mission, give us an ACTUAL stealth mission. Give us a mission where we're ACTUALLY saving civs.
