šŸ‡®šŸ‡± BIBI AT THE WALL Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prayed at the Western Wall, carrying the weight of Israel, the region, and much of the world on his shoulders. In a moment when every eye is on Israel, it’s powerful to see a leader who remembers he’s just a...

šŸ‡®šŸ‡±šŸ‡øšŸ‡¾ Al Sharaa on Syria and Israel tensions ā€œSyria will not be a platform for threatening neighboring countries, including Israel. We have spoken clearly, but Israel has carried out numerous attacks on Syria since the fall of the regime until today. We were subjected to more than a thousand Israeli raids that targeted many military and security sites and even civilians. It has made over 400 incursions into Syria, made arrests, and done a lot of things that are causing chaos in Syria, even though there are supposed...ā€ Journalist: ā€œA thousand aerial bombardments from Israel since December?ā€ Sharaa: ā€œYes, in the first twenty days, five hundred raids. Although the Syrian revolution supposedly expelled the Iranian militias that were posing a threat to Israel, it also expelled Hezbollah from Syria at the same time, because they were opponents. We didn't do it for Israel, but in another way, Israel benefited from the current Syrian scene. But what appeared here is that Israel seems sad about the fall of the former regime. It carried out many attacks on Syria under the pretext of security, after October 7, and things like that. If you want to be safe, you simply have to respect the safety of others. The one who should be fearful and have security concerns is Syria, not Israel, because Israel is the one that attacks Syria on a daily basis, violates Syrian airspace, and bombs many Syrian sites.ā€

Jeffrey Sachs: We fought trillions of dollars worth of wars at the behest of the Israel Lobby, at the behest of Netanyahu. Netanyahu was the great cheerleader for the Iraq War. He was the great cheerleader for overthrowing Syria. He’s been the cheerleader for a war with Iran that he’s just desperate to have this coming week, and I mean it literally. Where is Western civilization when Israel is massacring tens of thousands of people before our eyes, blowing up the housing, the hospitals, the clinics, the infrastructure of Gaza, then, now bombing indiscriminately Beirut—in fact, all parts of Lebanon—they were just bombing the port of Tyre, and Netanyahu’s talking about expanding the war to Iran. Of course, he can’t do it other than the United States getting into a war with Iran which would be a complete disaster—and a disaster for Israel—though it’s the one that Netanyahu is egging on. It is a pervasive view around the world that I am hearing every single day that there are no Western values because we see a genocide unfolding in Gaza, we see absolutely zero will of the US government to reign in what Israel is doing, though everything that Israel is doing depends on the US bombs, the US weapon systems, the US financing. This is a US operation being carried out by Israel but with complete complicity by the United States and silence by Europe. This is now the common parlance around the world. I’m asked all the time, ā€˜What is your government doing? How can it stand by when Israel is committing these crimes?’ It’s an amazing question. It’s so stark. It’s such a profound failure of American politics that it is like this. Netanyahu has been leading the United States into disaster after disaster after disaster. And he still shows up to Congress—which takes money from the Israel Lobby—and he gets 50 standing ovations. After the Iraq war, after all the wars that he has led us into, the massive debts that he has caused, the massive loss of life that he’s caused, the increasing instability that he’s caused, he gets applause in the US Congress because they are simply on the take.

Ok so here’s what’s happening. For the past few days, pagers and radios used by Hezbollah terrorists to communicate and coordinate attacks on Israelis have been exploding. This is a major development in a war that began nearly a year ago, when Hezbollah, in coordination with Hamas, joined the attacks on Israel. On October 7 Hamas invaded Israel, murdering thousands of Israeli civilians and kidnapping hundreds more. The very next day on October 8th Hezbollah joined the war. Both of these terrorist groups are backed trained and funded by the Islamic Republic of Iran, the world’s largest sponsor of terrorism. And for the past 11 months, Hezbollah has fired over 8,500 rockets and drones at Israel, that’s almost 1000 attacks each month, forcing nearly 100,000 Israelis away from their homes. Dozens of Israeli civilians have been killed. Including, horrifically the 12 children who were playing soccer in Majdal Shams when an Iranian-made rocket, launched by Hezbollah, struck the playground and killed them. And this week, Hezbollah suffered a significant blow. Every single person who was carrying one of these devices was part of Hezbollah’s terrorist operation. If you had them, you are a part of Iran’s terrorist occupation of the Middle East and you are a part of Iran’s ring of fire that’s trying to take Israel down. While Israel has consistently shown restraint and made countless attempts to reach a ceasefire, Hezbollah has continued attacking Israel. It’s time for the international community to recognize the serious threat posed by Hezbollah and the rest of Iran’s jihadi terrorist armies in the Middle East. Allowing this aggression on Israel’s borders to become the status quo threatens global security and empowers extremists worldwide. Israel did not want this war and did not start this war with Hamas, Hezbollah or Iran but will have to defend itself and win this war.

Today, Iran launched a swarm of 185 killer drones, 110 surface to surface missiles, and 36 cruise missiles at Israel, putting the whole country and entire region on lockdown. This was the first time Iran launches a direct attack against Israel from its own soil. But for decades, Iran has been building a ring of terror around Israel’s borders. This is called Iran’s terror proxy network, which includes Jihadi terrorist groups like Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and other armed militias in Syria and Iraq. Iran’s multi-front war against Israel has been going on for decades. And the October 7th massacre was just a part of this larger war. Yet brainwashed so called activists around the world are trying to defend this attack against Israel and say that it was justified. They claim that Israel deserved this attack for eliminating Iran’s most senior military figure in Syria, Mohammad Reza Zahedi, who was involved in the planning of the October 7th massacre. However this attack was not an isolated event. It is a part of Iran’s on-going campaign to wipe Israel off the map and destabilize the Middle East in order to create a new power dynamic in the region. Thanks to Israel’s incredible air defense systems, and her American and EU allies, the vast majority of the projectiles were intercepted before reaching Israel, resulting in limited damage. Yet Iran’s endless support of terrorism not only threatens Israel, but also threatens global security. From Gaza to Lebanon, Yemen to Syria, Iran’s fingerprints are evident in countless conflicts. It’s time to dismantle Iran’s terror networks and hold the regime accountable for its relentless pursuit of violence. And only then can we hope to see a safer, more peaceful world for future generations.

Jeffrey Sachs: Israel is a crazy rogue state, with half its political leadership in the mindset of the fifth century BC—reading some text from King Josiah. Israel has just plunged the world into probably the Third World War, and into a phenomenal economic crisis. The timing, the instigation, is Israel’s. The fact that the US goes along with it is because it’s completely coherent with the US hegemonic project. But this is Israel. Complete madness. And because of the hold of the Israel lobby in the United States, that madness isn’t even examined. It’s not impossible. You don’t need one ruler of the world to have peace. But American hegemonists—supremacists—cannot understand that. I think they’re trapped at an emotional level, maybe before age five. I don’t know. They don’t see that there’s another way: in a multipolar world, we actually could get along. We could make rules of the road. We could cooperate. The one who understood that in the United States was Franklin Roosevelt. Another who understood it more recently was John F. Kennedy. And he probably died because he held that belief—killed from the inside because he held it. This is a tough struggle. We’re in an extraordinarily dangerous moment. If this continues, if Trump continues to believe he will pick Iran’s next leader and demand unconditional surrender, things will depend on military outcomes. But one real possibility is a global economic crisis—instigated by Israel and the United States—the likes of which we’ve not seen for a long time.
