I used to pay £8 for a new tube and fitting at the bike shop nr work. The caretaker said I'll do it for you. It's a doddle. Gave him the tube and 2hrs later, he'd wrecked the wheel. His cheap fix cost me £30 and I'd bought him a can of beer 🤪

I did a similar thing whilst touring, wheel carried on ok for at least another 500k to the finish…I got a new one after😀
