Hate crimes in NYC are up over 70% under Mayor Mamdani — with a disturbing spike in antisemitic attacks. According to the latest NYPD stats: 68 confirmed hate crimes last month vs. 39 a year ago. Of those, 41 were antisemitic (up from 24) — a 70%+ jump in crimes targeting Jewish New Yorkers. The narrative that the Montreal anti Israel protests had an antisemitic effigy of a Jew is faulty. The effigy appeared to be of Ben Gvir, and was paraded along with effigies of Trump and Netanyahu. This is political extremism, but I don't think it can be called antisemitic.
