You stood before the nation, smiling, and promised to cut the chains.....to end taxes on Social Security for good. It was a pledge made to millions, many of us veterans who had already paid our dues in the mud, the heat, and the silence of service. Men and women who came home, aged with quiet dignity, and still showed up when their country called.... this time at the ballot box. But the bill that passed wasn’t the promise. It was a fraction, a technical gesture....a $4,000 deduction for some, phased out for many, and cold comfort to those who needed real relief. You threw a rope down into the pit where many elders now sit, weary and worried, and said, “Grab hold.” And when we reached out, it turned to dust. Imagine being in your seventies, maybe a disabled vet, maybe just tired. Your bones ache, your cupboards are thin, your meds are too expensive. But you believed them. You heard their words and held on, thinking maybe this time, someone meant it. And now… silence. No explanation. No accountability. Just quiet abandonment from those in power..... like an abuser who pretends nothing ever happened. That’s what this is. An abuse of trust. Of power. Of the people who once stood guard so others wouldn’t have to. And now, when we need our country most, it turns away.... not with cruelty, but with neglect. The kind that hollows out hope. But, I do have a huge problem with no tax on overtime. That is misguided. What about all those people out there that have a 2nd job to make ends meet. Two jobs gives them well over 40 hours. They have to pay tax on all hours but those that work over 40 hours on a single job don't
