I couldn’t imagine traveling intentionally to another country, staying illegally and acting surprised when consequences come knocking. Even if I’d successfully evaded for 10 years, I’d be looking over my shoulder every day. Just because you got away with it for years doesn’t mean you’re off the hook. Just ask anyone who’s tried to evade taxes.
