yesterday, i stumbled onto the most underrated market research tool. tiktok creator insights. it's a goldmine of consumer behavior data, hiding in plain sight. and it's free to use. here's why it's powerful: 1. shows you what people are desperately searching for 2. highlights topics with high demand but low supply 3. reveals trending questions in every industry 4. tracks search growth over 14-day periods the "content gap" tab shows you problems people are actively trying to solve, but can't find good solutions for. so that's cool for a couple reasons 1. help you create content that has low supply/high demand (better chances of going viral) 2. you can build startups to some of these trends Example: i searched "email management" and found: • "how to clear 10k emails" • "best way to organize work inbox" • "email templates for busy people" thousands searching. hardly any solutions. the beauty of this • it's real-time market research • it's actual user intent • it's completely free • and most founders aren't using it a bunch of smart founders are mining tiktok insights right now it isn't perfect, but you never know what you might find your next startup idea might be hiding in those search trends. As Spanish speakers, they are able to communicate directly with the people they encounter offering not only life-saving expertise, but also reassurance, comfort, and compassion in their own language. In moments of unimaginable loss and uncertainty, a familiar voice, a few words of encouragement, or simply being understood can provide a measure of hope that extends far beyond the rescue itself. Our canine search teams are among the most vital members of this mission. The Visual Studio Code insiders version that just shipped and will ship in the next few days will come with an insane amount of new capabilities. A few highlights: - You can now run sub-agents in parallel. Yes, really. I even attached a video. - Major UX improvements for sub agents, especially visible in the chat window - A new search tool wrapped as a sub-agent that iteratively runs multiple search tools: semantic_search, file_search, grep_search Which connects nicely to the point above: multiple searches running in parallel, efficiently and fast - Anthropic’s Message API is now enabled by default - You can choose the model for the cloud agent (three available, all premium) - Extended thinking support when using the Claude cloud agent This is part of the broader multi-vendor cloud support under AgentsHQ I wrote about a few weeks ago - Tasks sent to the background agent (basically the CLI tool) now always run in isolation, each with its own git worktree - In a multi-repo workspace, assigning a task to a cloud agent prompts you to choose the target repo Same behavior when opening an empty workspace with no repo - Support for building an external index for files not supported by GitHub’s default indexing - UI/UX improvements for starting new sessions and switching between local / background / cloud agents - Skills are now first-class citizens, just like prompt files, with better UX indicating when a skill is loaded - Improved API for dynamic contribution of prompt files New V2 includes skills as part of the model. Talking with someone the other day that estimated they had about 25,000 idle connections to Postgres. My actual response to them: "holy shit". They double checked, it was only about 12,000 Same day had a conversation with someone saying they didn't need pgbouncer because of activerecord's connection pooling. Let's dig into connection pooling in Postgres. Prior to Postgres 14 every connection to the database consumed memory, roughly 10MB, it may be slightly less but it still wasn't free. Even beyond Postgres 14 there is still various contention that happens when Postgres starts to use a connection. An application pooler maintains a set of connections and hands them out when needed on the application side. These are idle and real connections against the database that indeed do impact performance negatively. In contrast pgbouncer speaks the wire protocol, waits for the begin part of the transaction and then uses a connection. It more strictly manages how many idle ones it's having instead of per web server you're running. pgbouncer up until recently really needed to be run in transaction mode (which meant disabling prepared statements in your application framework). prepared_statement support in pgbouncer was added recently, and now you don't have to disable. Even when running with an older version of pgbouncer with prepared_statements disabled you'd still see a big performance gain. A quick check to know if you'd benefit from pgbouncer, run this query: SELECT count(*), state FROM pg_stat_activity GROUP BY 2; If you're idle account is high (yes this is dependent on your view, but to me if it's above 25-30 range, and especially if active is until half that) then you'd already start to benefit from pgbouncer. If it's at 10,000 then post haste get pgbouncer in place. Finally, you don't have to not use a framework pooler, they're fine, but don't think it replaces a native Postgres connection pooler.
