This didn’t age well. Remember when Governor Mikie Sherrill scoffed at the idea of NJ schools looking like Louisiana or Mississippi? Fast forward. New Jersey is now #30 in student growth, FAR BEHIND Louisiana, Mississippi, and 27 other states. According to Laura Waters in NJ Ed Report : She writes: “According to the rankings, New Jersey is ranked #30 in student growth, despite massive spending from the state (projected to be $12.4 billion next year, a 3.1% increase from last year, plus a big chunk of your property taxes).” “The drop for NJ eighth graders in reading was especially precipitous, 3.8 points, one of the worst performances among all states, and proficiency scores in the other subjects — fourth grade reading and math and eighth grade math — dropped about one point.” “In contrast, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee saw increases in proficiency in every subject. In Louisiana, fourth graders increased scores in math by almost six points and 3.7 points in reading.” She also points to a mix of causes (might I add spearheaded by the Democrat Majority and supported by the NJEA) for NJ's massive decline: lowered standards that mask reality, long school closures, lack of accountability, grade inflation, and a system focused on inputs instead of results. How'd that work? • Asbury Park – 12.6% of 4th graders reading at grade level • Trenton (Thomas Jefferson School) – 2.8% • Newark (Grover Cleveland School) – 6% of 4th graders proficient in math • Camden (Cooper’s Poynt School) – 0% proficiency in math Stop defending the indefensible. You can’t spin it, you can’t excuse it, and you can’t throw more money at it. This morning, I conducted an unannounced inspection at Queens College, Yaba, Lagos, to assess its current infrastructure, leadership, and the welfare of the students. Upon my arrival at 7:45 AM, I was pleased to see the majority of students lining up for assembly, with both the academic and non-academic staff, including the principal, already present and ready to begin the school day. During my visit, I held separate discussions with students, teachers, and the principal to better understand their challenges and needs. It is clear that the school requires significant infrastructural improvements to adequately and safely accommodate its students and staff. Queens College, established almost 100 years ago, has long surpassed its original capacity. To ensure that our students benefit from an appropriate student-to-teacher ratio, sufficient resources, and adequate facilities for boarding and feeding, we must maintain a standard capacity across all Unity Schools and Federal Government Colleges. In line with our commitment to promoting quality assurance in education, the Federal Ministry of Education will collaborate with Principal Obabori and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to redesign, refurbish, and build new facilities at Queens College, including a library, dining areas, hostels, and classrooms. Over the next several months, I will be conducting unannounced visits to other Unity Schools and Federal Colleges. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s mission for the education sector is simple: to provide better education for all. This is the goal that the Ministry and I are dedicated to achieving. I extend my thanks to the principal, teachers, and students for their warm reception and look forward to working with the school’s leadership to ensure better pay and welfare packages for our teachers and improved educational outcomes for our students. #EducationForAll

Paxton beat him by more than twenty points. But here's the uncomfortable question. If we replace Thune tomorrow, who takes his place? A 53 seat majority still needs 60 votes for most legislation. If the next senators in line are cut from the same establishment cloth as Thune and Cornyn, we haven't fixed anything. We've just changed the face on the podium. The real fight isn't one man. It's a Senate culture that treats the filibuster like sacred scripture while the country burns. Until primary voters send true America First fighters to Washington in bulk, not just one or two at a time, the swamp will keep finding a new Thune every single time. Draining the swamp was never a one man job. It's a decade long war, and the RINOs are counting on us getting tired first.

These sleep regressions can be especially pronounced in association with big breakthroughs in language and motor development. Learning to roll over and pull to a stand, for example, both offer your little one a whole new set of options in the crib. No longer immobile, now there are new abilities to practice… and new vantage points from which to view the world. I mean, who needs sleep when there’s a whole world to discover? Similarly the emergence of vocal experimentation and babbling offer new opportunities for bedtime amusement. Two weeks ago I fixed one of my teeth with algorithms I wrote a couple of years ago! I got hooked by 3D scanning when I started to work for a software shop in Zurich that was programming 3D computational geometry algorithms for denture scanning to produce crowns (and more). Back then, a typical reconstruction pipeline was like: scan the patient’s teeth using an intraoral scanner, reconstruct the surface mesh, design the restoration digitally, and finally mill the crown out of ceramic. We were working mostly with point clouds and meshes, but it wasn’t just math, it was craftsmanship translated into a digital process. Every micron mattered. You could literally see how a good algorithm meant a better fit in someone’s mouth. Gaussian Splatting isn’t about surface reconstruction, it’s about appearance reconstruction. It doesn’t care about explicit topology, it captures how light interacts with the scene. In a sense, it’s the opposite philosophy of the dental world: instead of modeling what the object is, it models how the object looks. 3D Gaussian Splatting enables applications like training self driving cars, teaching robots to understand their environment, creating virtual worlds, or monitoring real sites. It represents scenes as millions of small Gaussians rendered in real time without the need for meshes or textures. Coming from a world where precision geometry was everything, this shift felt natural. It’s still about reconstruction, but with a different goal: not manufacturing a perfect object, but reproducing how the world actually looks. Two weeks ago I got my first dental crown, made with the same software, reconstruction algorithms, and Swiss precision I once helped develop. I haven’t worked there in two years, but sitting in that chair and seeing the process from the other side was a proud moment. It reminded me why I love this field.
