Here's the demo shown in the video combining a Select with a TagGroup. You can add a TagGroup within a SelectValue and access the selected items via the render prop function. It also uses Autocomplete to allow filtering. Composition ftw! 😀

I see the trigger-width CSS variable is not the width of the triggerRef but rather the width of the button; is this intentional?

Select is too limited for real world project.

How do you mean?

Are there plans to provide a MultiPicker as part of react-spectrum. If I get it right there‘s only support in react-aria?

Devon Govett's profile picture
Devon Govett11 months ago

It exists in Spectrum 2, which is currently in pre-release.

Ok Looks like I missed that there‘s going to be v2.0

Tom Schindl's profile picture
Tom Schindl11 months ago

Ok so there won’t be a multi-select v1, right? Is there any timeframe for when you expect v2 will be released?

@devongovett The styling in your video showcasing the MultiSelect component, is that the styling you get out of the box using this and other React Aria components?

how do you think we should handle showing selected items in the multiselect when the list is loaded with infinite scroll?

multiselect finally!

You think you'll do multi select for the combobox as well? And something like the onAction for the autocomplete?

Devon Govett's profile picture
Devon Govett1 year ago

Yes. We're still planning a TagField, which would allow "inline" editing of the tags (like the gmail "To" field). But you can get pretty close with Select + TagGroup + Autocomplete example I showed.

Roman Sandler's profile picture

Awesome! I got one problem with that currently in that we want clicking on the tag to open the popover (like the react select ux). So I can't really use the tag group component.

@realwitt Looking forward to it! Y’all are on a roll. I’d love a bit more explanation of the useDragAndDrop hook. It’s mentioned in passing in React Aria examples, but you have to go to React Spectrum docs to get more info.

@realwitt Yeah it's currently covered on each component page that supports it (e.g. Table, ListBox, etc.) but we're going to be consolidating it all onto one page in the new docs.
