A local utility company in Illinois has plans to help lower residents electrical bills They will be requiring new data centers and planned data centers to sign 10 year contracts saying they will be responsible for paying for upgrade costs and electricity usage costs “That means any new data centers would be on the hook for power upgrades and any energy they plan to use, even if the data center ends up not getting built or if they don't use as much power as planned or if they close. Yesterday, I spoke out against data centers and AI layoffs at the Seattle City Council. Under mass pressure, the City Council passed a one-year moratorium on new hyperscale data centers. This is a victory for working people, but one year is far from enough. I ask myself, “What do I buy that is really the picks and shovels? And what do I buy that is actually a direct ownership of the tech equivalent to, let's say a stable coin or Bitcoin itself?" My conclusion has been if I wanna play the long-term, the next five years or even 10 years in AI, I need to own data centers. I need to own real estate where data centers are built. I need to own power contracts that power the data centers. I've seen this movie so many times before, once you convinced as an investor that this is gonna be here for a while.
