Drama ads aren’t just for women. That might be one of the dumbest assumptions in advertising right now. Men will watch drama. You just have to give them a reason to care. And one of the easiest ways to get a man emotionally invested is to put him in a situation that hits his ego. He feels himself getting weaker. His hair is disappearing. He can’t keep up with the younger guys anymore. His wife doesn’t look at him the same way. He’s embarrassed by something he would never admit out loud. That’s your hook. But the mistake is revealing the product immediately. Let the story breathe. Let the insecurity build. Let the viewer wonder what happens next. Then, at the end, reveal the bigger picture. Because the story was never really about the product. It was about confidence. Identity. His relationship. Getting older. Feeling like himself again. That’s what makes drama so powerful. Almost any product can become a prop inside a story that actually means something. The product is the mechanism. The story is the reason to watch. And this is where watch time becomes a massive creative advantage. If you can get someone to watch 30, 45, 60+ seconds instead of 2 seconds, you’re creating dramatically more opportunity for Meta to learn who is actually responding to your creative. More watch time. More engagement. More shares. More signals. And potentially more efficient acquisition as the system finds people who respond to that type of content. That’s the part people miss. The goal isn’t just to make an ad people click. The goal is to make an ad people watch, finish, and send to someone else. Because when the story earns the attention, you get something traditional UGC rarely gives you: Time. And time is one of the most valuable things you can get in advertising. You just can’t directly buy it… People can just swipe right past your ad… You have to convince the customer to give it to you.

Yesterday, alongside the Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Engr. Abraham Oshadame, and staff of the ncc.gov.ng, Lagos Zonal Office, I received a delegation of stakeholders from Nigeria’s creative industry — filmmakers, musicians, facilitators, investors, and others — on a courtesy visit. The engagement offered an opportunity for open and constructive conversation around the intersection of telecommunications and the creative economy, particularly on issues of online safety, service quality, data usage, intellectual property protection, and digital monetisation. Having worked closely within the creative ecosystem over the last decade, I understand both the opportunities and the challenges that come with building, protecting, and scaling creative value in a digital environment. Nigeria’s creative industry continues to play a significant role in shaping culture, driving economic value, and projecting our global relevance. As a Commission, we recognise the importance of fostering an environment where innovation is supported, content is protected, and creators are empowered to thrive within a fair and sustainable digital ecosystem. Much was said, and we agreed that much remains to be done. We left with a shared commitment to work together in a meaningful and mutually beneficial way — to grow both industries, beginning with the convening of a stakeholders’ meeting with our operators — and to protect our critical national infrastructure, promote safe and responsible digital use, and positively project our country as best as possible. It was a pleasure receiving #BISOLA-THE PLAYLIST Omowunmi Onalaja D'banj D Kokomaster, SUPREMOS 🤍🐘, Ojinika Obiekwe, Ini Edo, Lojay, Bolanle Olukanni, Aibee Abidoye, Tee-Y Mix, DIRECTOR PINK, Cake, ChiGurl76, Iam_slimcase, @chiomaude, Oluyemisi Falaye, and other stakeholders for this important conversation. I thank the delegation for the visit and for the thoughtful exchange. We look forward to continued collaboration in advancing a more secure, inclusive, and forward-looking digital landscape.

It's funny when I cop insists they know the law meanwhile they are clueless. An Oregon State Trooper pulls over a Lamborghini rolling through the state without standard U.S. license plates. Instead, the supercar is sporting Dubai plates. Right out of the gate, the officer challenges the driver's explanation: "Well no, you’re not visiting as a tourist if you brought a car with you." The trooper insists that driving on Oregon roads requires state registration or a temporary trip permit. This cop came out of the gate thinking he knew everything and zero interest in listening and learning. In his eyes, this guy must be a criminal not following the laws and he was not going to waste his time doing actual investigative work. What he wasn’t expecting was a driver armed with an entire binder of high-level customs documentation. The legal reality behind the stop comes down to a Carnet de Passages en Douane (CPD): Recognized under UN customs conventions, a CPD acts like an international "passport" for a motor vehicle. It permits tourists to temporarily bring foreign-registered cars into signatory countries for up to 12 months without paying import duties or obtaining local domestic plates. Paired with an EPA temporary tourist exemption, valid UAE registration, an International Driving Permit, and active insurance, the supercar was 100% legal to drive from the port straight up toward Vancouver. Because rank-and-file highway patrol officers rarely encounter foreign tourist carnet paperwork outside major international shipping hubs, confusion was almost guaranteed. But that does not excuse this cops behavior. Once faced with deciphering federal treaties, EPA exemptions, and a mountain of legitimate paperwork on the shoulder of the highway, the trooper suddenly realizes he's out of his depth: "I have another call I have to go to." A textbook lesson in keeping your cool, knowing your rights, and having the paperwork to back it up. The cop straight up quit on the side of the road and took off running rather than admitting his error.
