But the bigger danger is what happens after the first satellite is destroyed. “You could, in the first half hour to an hour of a space war, see the unintended destruction of basically every satellite in orbit.” That is the nightmare of Kessler syndrome: debris from one destroyed satellite strikes others, generating more debris and potentially creating a cascading failure across orbit.
