In September of 2011, Eric and Wynton Marsalis released their collaboration album, 'Wynton Marsalis & Eric Clapton – Play The Blues - Live From Jazz At Lincoln Center,' which was recorded in April of that year at New York City's Jazz at Lincoln Center (Jazz at Lincoln Center). Taj Mahal was featured for two of the songs on the record, including this performance of “Just A Closer Walk With Thee.”

35 years ago today, the Geto Boys release their 3rd LP, We Can't Be Stopped, on Rap-A-Lot Records. one of the most vivid and brutal rap records of all-time. brilliantly self-produced (with help from John Bido and Johnny C), it took only 2 weeks to record. "Mind Playing Tricks on Me" is one of the greatest rap songs ever recorded, and "Fuck a War" is as relevant today as it was 35 years ago. possibly the greatest album cover ever (although Bushwick Bill and Scarface later said they regretted taking the photo). their magnum opus. #RIPBushwickBill

Preem’s production is a tribute to multiple decades of black music, and Guru is in top form. “Take it Personal” stands alone as possibly one of the five songs that define the signature sound of the group with an impeccable catalog, 34 years later it still stands as one of the best examples of top-tier lyricism over flawless production. like the rest of their work, Daily Operation raised the bar artistically upon its release in the spring of 1992, inspiring heightened cultural awareness and somehow making it all look easy, like just another day in the office for hip-hop’s greatest MC/DJ combo. an absolute perfect record and my personal favorite from their (brilliant) discography. listen to it today, and bask in its glory.

Nevertheless, he possessed dazzling technique and a totally unique playing style, including his trademark “strumming” of the chords he played with his right hand. He was an outstanding improviser who made full use of the piano keyboard, imparting a lush, orchestral feel to his interpretations of popular songs. Garner’s own jazz piano compositions include Blues Garni, Erroll’s Bounce, and his most famous piece, Misty, which became a jazz standard. He released music on over 40 labels, received multiple Grammy nominations, and recorded one of the greatest selling jazz albums of all time, Concert By The Sea which was released in 1955. Primarily a player of the alto saxophone, Parker’s tone ranged from clean and penetrating to sweet and somber. A breeze tipped the ship, water flooded the open gun ports, and it went down in front of a horrified crowd - roughly 1,300 meters from shore. For 333 years, it sat in the pitch-black Baltic Sea. Because the water lacked wood-boring worms, time completely stopped. When raised in 1961, 98% of its original wood was intact. Today, it stands as the best-preserved 17th-century ship on Earth.

"A Woman Is a Woman" (1961) might not be Godard's best work, but it has it's charming moments, especially the dance sequences involving Anna Karina & Godard self referencing his own work and of Truffaut's "Shoot the Piano Player" (1960). The use of colours was great too, considering it was Godard's first colour movie. Even though it is a musical, it doesn't feel like one. Only in the scenes with Anna Karina, it even resembles one. Maybe it was intentional. The main drawback of the movie is Jean-Claude Brialy, whom I feel was miscast. I am a big fan of him, but in this movie, he feels out of place.
