Bill Evans was a master of mood, atmosphere, harmony, and space. Few could make the piano sound so intimate.

Not on this record but still think this is one of the best things ever recorded in music

Bill Evans and Chet Baker, anywhere anytime!

Bill Evans truly understood the space between notes like nobody else. "Portrait in Jazz" is a masterclass in mood and harmony. Pure, intimate perfection for a Sunday afternoon. ☕️🎶

❤️ His first trio (w LaFaro/Motian )will always be my favorite. That intimacy you mentioned, the musical conversations they had effortlessly were sublime. And then add Scott dying in a car wreck just over a week after the village Vanguard recordings just adds such a depth of melancholy and intensity to all the work they did (but most especially the Sunday at the VV and Waltz for Debby recordings). Just heartbreaking and unbelievably beautiful

“Blue in Green” and “Time Remembered” are my two favorite pieces which Bill wrote. They each rouse such emotion within me each time I hear them, and that is what true art can do.

Bill Evans was the jazz artist who proved that less can be so much more.

love this album!

Incredible

He's on the disc player downstairs right now (along with Oscar Peterson, Jim Hall, and Chet Baker)

Intimate. I like that. It fits. He had a special talent in that regard.

Some might say his piano playing was… Witchcraft.

Listening now whilst doing the dishes .

Anyone know that he’s spider man yet? Solid choice.

Marzo y abril son azules. 💙

Evans is one of the trinity. Gould, Schiff and Evans.

Sir, you have impeccable taste. Crazy how similar we are on music vibes

This one and Explorations are both extraordinary

Been digging Bill Evans a lot lately. Try Undercurrent, one of his best.

Portrait in Jazz es una joya toda desde el primer surco.

With Christmas less than 6 months away I would be remiss if I didn't mention he did several great versions of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town" over the course of his career.

😌😌😌

🎯

Yes to all...Just a slice of his genius...

Looks likes skinny Jonah Hill on that one.

Fantastic

This is a timeless album that I hope jazz fans 100 years from now will still be listening to.

So true! Whenever I've had a stressful day, I sit back with my headphones on and play any one of his recordings and let the sounds wash over me. The stress just melts away.

❤️

Thank you for the info

Well said! ❤️ Bill
