Why are you inspecting my roof? It's...

Bill Maher: “Why Can’t We Even Call It Islamic Terrorism?” Bill Maher: Obama said, “No religion is responsible for terrorism. People are responsible for violence and terrorism.” That sounds a lot like the NRA slogan. Rob Reiner: Yeah. “Guns don't kill people, people kill...” Bill Maher: He also said, “The notion that the West is at war with Islam is an ugly lie.” The Atlantic said, “The reality is that the Islamic State is Islamic.” So, who's right about this? Rob Reiner: I think neither are right. If you look at the most violent Islamic groups, whether it's ISIS or Al-Qaeda, these are essentially Sunni-based. And they would not be where they are now, especially in Syria and Iraq, had we not removed Saddam Hussein. Bill Maher: He looks better all the time. Rob Reiner: I'm not saying Saddam Hussein was a good guy. Bill Maher: He wasn't a good guy, but sometimes there are no good answers. It's just the best one possible. Rob Reiner: Basically, it is a religious war, but it's a religious sectarian war. And to paint it all as “Islamic,” I think is a big mistake. Elahe Izadi: Obama is trying to avoid the phrase “Islamic extremism.” This was the same challenge President Bush confronted. Bill Nye: If you say everybody who's Islamic is a terrorist, you're headed for trouble. Bill Maher: No one is saying that. Bill Maher: But this idea that we cannot even call it “Islamic terrorism” seems Orwellian to me. We're paying a very high price for this, which is we can't discuss it even rationally. Can't we at least say that there are a number of factors involved, and the religion is certainly one of them? Rob Reiner: Absolutely. Bill Maher: He presented this idea that it's poverty and education. It is poverty and education also, but why are they impoverished and uneducated? It's mostly because of the religion. Bill Nye: What do you think about pumping the internet into there, somehow? So that everybody had access to all of these books... Bill Maher: Yeah, that's another thing the religion might be against. And not to mention the sex part. They're fucked up about women!

“Bill Maher CHALLENGES Charlie Rose on Islam: “Find Me a Moderate Muslim” Charlie Rose: Would you come to this table and have a debate about this with a moderate Muslim? Bill Maher: Find one, yes. Find one. I saw Howard Dean on TV, and he said, “I'm about as Islamic as they are,” distancing the vast numbers of Islamic people around the world from that. That's just not true. Charlie Rose: It is true. Bill Maher: It is not true, Charlie. There is a connecting tissue between Charlie Rose: You mean, behind every Muslim is a future member of some radical Bill Maher: Let me finish. Speaker (Islam Net): How many of you agree that the punishments described in the Quran and the Sunnah, whether it is death, whether it is stoning for adultery if it is from Allah and His Messenger, that is the best punishment ever possible for humankind? Who agrees with that? Allahu Akbar. Are you all radical extremists? Bill Maher: There are illiberal beliefs that are held by vast numbers of Muslim people. Charlie Rose: Vast number of Christians, too. Bill Maher: No, you know, that's not true. Speaker (Islam Net): These are general views that every Muslim actually has. Every Muslim believes in these things. Just because they are not telling you about it doesn't mean they don't believe in that. Bill Maher: Vast numbers of Christians do not believe that if you leave the Christian religion, you should be killed for it. Vast numbers of Christians do not treat women as second-class citizens. Vast numbers of Christians do not believe that if you draw a picture of Jesus Christ, you should get killed for it. But most Muslim people in the world do condone violence just for what you think. Charlie Rose: How do you know that? Bill Maher: First of all, they say it. There's a Pew poll of Egypt from a few years ago: 82%, I think it was, said stoning is the appropriate punishment for adultery; over 80% thought death was the appropriate punishment for leaving the Muslim religion. Charlie Rose: Well, I do. Bill Maher: So to claim that this religion is like other religions is just naive and plain wrong. It is not like other religions. Charlie Rose: I don't think the Quran teaches them to do these kind of Bill Maher: Well, you're wrong about that. The Quran absolutely has on every page stuff that's horrible about how the infidel should be treated.
