Bill Maher confronts Wesleyan University President Michael Roth over left-wing political conformity on college campuses: "You couldn't get a job if you couldn't demonstrate what your politics were." Maher pointed to one survey in which 77 out of 80 professors identified as Democrats and warned that institutions become unaccountable...

Bill Maher confronts a college president over how liberal professors have turned Israel and Western civilization into slurs on campus. He reminded him that Western civilization gave everyone who is a progressive "the things they should be most proud of." The president pushed back and said: No, college professors are totally teaching Western civilization = good. Maher didn’t believe him. Bill Maher: “Since I have been covering news and especially the Middle East, even before that, Israel was known as an ‘outpost of Western civilization.’” Michael Roth: “Yes, it was.” Maher: “And that’s what it was called. That was always a good thing. Now, I don’t think it is. I did an editorial here one night talking about that. The Western civilization, they talk about it like it’s a bad thing. Instead of saying Western civilization is what gave everyone who is a progressive the things they should be most proud of.” Roth: “And I think that a lot of our students learn just that in class.” Maher: “The professors are teaching that message? I think they’re learning it from my show. I don’t think the professors are teaching. I really don’t.” Roth: “I think they are learning it from your show, of course. But the professors watch your show too. Maybe even more often than an 18-year-old.” Maher: “Do you think I could come on campus and speak and be welcomed?” Roth: “Welcomed, maybe not, but certainly—” Maher: “Really?” Roth: “No, but certainly given a hearing.” Maher: “I shouldn’t be welcomed? Someone who twice gave the Democrats a million dollars- that’s not enough credentials to come on and be welcomed?” Roth: “Well, if you came to Wesleyan with a million dollars, I would welcome you with open arms.” Maher: “Okay. Right. Well, I’m not going to be doing that.” A 2018 National Association of Scholars study of 51 top-ranked liberal arts colleges found faculty Democrats outnumber Republicans 10.4 to 1. At 39% of those schools, there was NOT A SINGLE registered Republican among full-time professors.

“Ana Kasparian and Bill Maher Clash Over Whether Israel’s War in Gaza Is Creating More Extremism” Ana Kasparian: You want to talk about a little bit of truth? I can exhilarate you. Bill Maher: I know you're going to say genocide, and I'm going to say you don't know what the word means. Ana Kasparian: I'm Armenian. I know what the word means. Bill Maher: It's when you try to wipe out an entire population of people, which they didn't come close to doing. They prosecuted a war in which they were attacked. Ana Kasparian: If they were literally going after Hamas, that is legitimate. But that's not what's happening. Bill Maher: Hamas hides in tunnels underneath hospitals. Hamas is the bad guy. Ana Kasparian: What Hamas did on October 7th was disgusting. I don't hold back on that. But when the IDF's own data indicates that 83% of the people they've killed are civilians... Bill Maher: Because they hide behind them. Ana Kasparian: But Bill, do you understand that by killing so many civilians, they are essentially multiplying extremism? Bill Maher: I do understand that. But very often in war, you have two very bad choices. You don't have the good choice. You have the bad choice and the even worse choice. Ana Kasparian: Civilians get killed in wars. Everyone knows that. But there has to be a distinction. Let's say our country was occupied by Mexico. They decide to leave, but they control the electricity, what goes in, what comes out... Bill Maher: Because they were attacking them! Ana Kasparian: Israel has nuclear weapons. They have the world's military superpower backing them! Bill Maher: They have nuclear weapons, which they don't use. If Hamas had a nuclear weapon, how many seconds would it take before they used it on Israel? Ana Kasparian: I have no idea.

Bill Maher asks Ana Kasparian which Middle Eastern country she would feel comfortable wearing “that dress” and then this happened. MAHER: “If you had to live in the Middle East. Any city. Where would you live where you’d be comfortable in that dress?” ANA: “I’m sure I would not be comfortable in this dress in any of the various Middle Eastern countries that have been destabilized by—” MAHER INTERRUPTS: “Really? You’re not really blaming it on whitey, are you? You’re blaming Islam on whitey?” ANA: “I’m not blaming Islam on whitey.” MAHER: “But what you’re saying is we destabilize? That’s why you can’t wear that dress?” ANA: “Did we destabilize?” MAHER: “Wait a second.” ANA: “We were funding terrorist organizations in Syria during the Syrian civil war starting under the Obama administration.” MAHER: “We’re talking about your dress.” ANA: “It looks good, I know.” MAHER: “You’re saying you can’t wear that dress in Syria because of whitey destabilizing?” ANA: “I didn’t say that.” MAHER: “Okay, that’s what it sounded like… When I asked about the dress, you went right to destabilize. So is that why you couldn’t wear that dress?” ANA: “You want me to talk about jihadism and Islam.” MAHER: “Why won’t you? Why won’t you?” ANA: “I don’t believe in jihadism, which is why I’m furious the United States just had significant Al Qaeda terrorists in the White House.” MAHER: “But it’s not just jihadism that is preventing you from wearing that dress there. Are you saying every Muslim is a jihadist? I don’t think they are.” ANA: “Bill. Bill, Bill, Bill. Let’s focus for a second.” MAHER: “No, you won’t answer this question.”

Ana Kasparian picks a fight with Bill Maher about Israel and Gaza—then all hell breaks loose. ANA: “You wanna get exhilarated right now? I can exhilarate you.” MAHER: “I know you’re gonna say genocide, and I’m gonna say, well, you don’t know what the word means… Hamas is the bad guy. If you don’t get that, you don’t get much.” ANA: “What Hamas did on October 7th was disgusting killing.” MAHER: “Well, that’s the easiest thing in the world to say… If you hate oppression… Hundreds of millions of women have basically no freedom in the Muslim world.” ANA: “So we should slaughter them instead, which is what’s been happening.” MAHER: “Well, you should prosecute a war to the end. That does involve slaughter in every war.” ANA: “Civilians get killed in wars.” MAHER: “Especially when you hide behind them.” ANA: “But when 83%, according to the IDF’s own data… 83% of the people that they’ve killed are civilians—” MAHER: “Because they hide behind them.” ANA: “But Bill, do you understand that by killing so many civilians, they are essentially multiplying extremism.” MAHER: “I do understand that. If Hamas had a nuclear weapon, how many seconds would it take before they used it on Israel?” ANA: “I don’t know.” MAHER: “Three. Three’s the answer. Three seconds.” ANA: “How do you know that, Bill? Come on.” MAHER: “Because it’s in their charter.” ANA: “You have a difficult time at least acknowledging the atrocities that have been committed against innocent civilians in Gaza.” MAHER: “Well, it depends on what you call an atrocity. All wars are going to have atrocities… During the Civil War, a lot of people would say, especially in the South, that Sherman did not have to burn Atlanta quite as badly as he did. I mean, we were pretty brutal. But would you also then just say, well, we don’t know who the good guys were in that war? No, I think it was the North.” ANA: “I think much of the problems we have in the Middle East are due to the enabling of this expansion. Look, it’s an expansionist policy.” MAHER: “They’ve never been trying to expand.” ANA: “They’re trying to annex the West Bank right now. And Lebanon—southern Lebanon—and Syria, which they’ve succeeded in.” MAHER: “Excuse me, these are all places that they were attacked from. When they became a country in 1947, they said, ‘Okay, we will accept half a loaf.’ They had as much right to that land as anybody. There was a continual presence there since 1000 BC, when King David had a kingdom.” ANA: “I don’t care about that at all.” MAHER: “But it’s relevant!” (MAHER AND ANA TALK OVER EACH OTHER) MAHER: “You’re calling them colonizers. They’re not colonizers.” ANA: “They’re expanding, and they’re annexing land. That’s what colonizers do.”

Sen. John Kennedy fires back at Bill Maher and cracks him up after Maher delivers a grave prediction for Republicans over ICE drama. Maher said Republicans will get the “dog shit” kicked out of them in the midterms because “this is not what people voted for.” Kennedy instantly got Maher laughing the second he opened his mouth. MAHER: “John, I’m just going to say it to you. I’m not trying to pick a fight right away. But my prediction is this stuff, your party is going to get the dog shit kicked out of you in the midterms. Come on. Because this is not what people voted for. And they’re going to hold the party as responsible as they should.” KENNEDY: “Well, let me give you my take on it, Bill. You don’t have to be Einstein’s cousin or a senior at Caltech to know that illegal immigration is illegal. Duh!” (Maher laughs) KENNEDY: “Those of us who believe that no one is above the law have to concede that folks who are in our country illegally are not above the law either. I support enforcing our immigration laws. Now, how you enforce them matters.” MAHER: “That’s the key.” KENNEDY: “You have to do it in accordance with due process. Equal protection in Terry v. Ohio. Reasonable suspicion. It’s okay to protest. It’s NOT OKAY to protest violently. Violence undermines the morality that you say your movement is built upon.” MAHER: “But that five-year-old was not being violent.” KENNEDY: “I understand. But protesting violently not only undermines your movement, it’s a 12-piece BUCKET OF STUPID. Somebody’s gonna get hurt.”
