Bill Maher leaves guest looking dumbfounded as he drops narrative-breaking education stats on her. MAHER: “‘Student achievement has fallen off a cliff, and neither Trump nor the pandemic is to blame.’ Why do we need the Department of Education if it has done such a sh*tty job?” “If [Democrats]...

Bill Maher leaves his guest visibly dumbfounded after yanking him out of his liberal bubble. Patton Oswalt couldn’t believe what he was hearing: “I’m sorry, I don’t remember [the left doing] that.” That’s when Bill Maher told him why his blind spot was so massive: “Because it doesn’t get into the Blue Sky Bubble.” OSWALT: “I hate to admit this: this country is not as mature as it thinks it is. We elected Obama, and clearly the country freaked out. And we’re still living in that freakout. We are not as progressed and evolved and intelligent as we think we are because we keep freaking out about this stuff.” MAHER: “The left freak out, too. The left freaked out about a lot of bullshit too.” OSWALT: “What did they freak out about?” MAHER: “Gender, race, parenthood, schools, homelessness, crime, the border, education. We stopped being a scientific people.” OSWALT: “But the left certainly stayed scientific.” MAHER: “No, they didn’t.” OSWALT: “Why not?” MAHER: “Because they think gender bullshit that they went way too far with… What makes us a great country is that we respect minorities. We don’t think they’re lesser just because they’re lesser in numbers. That’s not what we started to teach, which was that every baby is — I don’t know — let’s not even put it on the birth certificate. That’s what they wanted.” OSWALT: “Were we teaching that? Yes. When were we teaching that? Teaching it. It was a law here in California, see.” MAHER: “Yes.” OSWALT: “When were we teaching that?” MAHER: “Teaching it — it was a law here in California.” OSWALT: “To teach what?” MAHER: “Don’t put sex on the birth certificate. ‘We’ll see.’ Now, we’ve passed that period now.” OSWALT: “I’m sorry, I don’t remember that.” MAHER: “Because it doesn’t get in the Blue Sky bubble.”

Bill Maher drags his woke guest out of his liberal bubble and tells him to his face he’s why Kamala Harris lost. It all started when David Cross revealed his 9-year-old daughter has “trans friends.” “Wait, she has trans friends in third grade?” Maher asked. Cross replied: “Yep,” as if it’s completely normal and something society should embrace. That’s when Maher dropped the hammer and told him straight up that no, somebody’s doing something to that little girl. Cross immediately got defensive, but Maher refused to back down. He told Cross that believing a 9-year-old girl is deciding to be trans on her own is exactly the kind of liberal insanity that lost Kamala Harris the election in 2024. And if Democrats keep it up, JD Vance is going to win in 2028. By the end of this exchange, Cross is left sitting there looking like a deer in headlights, like he’s never been challenged on “trans kids” in his life. This is a moment worth watching, but if you’re somewhere you can’t play it, the transcript is below: MAHER: “You need to be checked. People need to be checked… including your little girl.” CROSS: “Fck that btch. (joking) Fck that little btch with her black friends and trans friends and not even understanding.” MAHER: “Trans?! Wait, she has trans friends in third grade?” CROSS: “Yep.” MAHER: “They know they’re trans in third grade?” CROSS: “Just the coolest kid.” MAHER: “[Is kid transitioning from] girl to boy?” CROSS: “Girl to boy. And she has another very close friend who’s not in the school, but who’s boy to girl at three years old.” MAHER: “A woman said [to me] ‘I was what they called a tomboy. If I was alive now and acted the way I did then, that’s what they would have done to me.’” CROSS: “Well, nobody’s doing this to her.” MAHER: “Well, I don’t know.” CROSS: “Literally nobody is doing this to her.” MAHER: “How old?” CROSS: “She is — or HE is — either eight or I think nine.” MAHER: “Okay, then somebody is doing something because eight or nine-year-olds can’t do anything on their own.” CROSS: “No, they’re buying them boys' clothes.” MAHER: “Well then, they’re doing something.” CROSS: “Sure. Yes, you’re right. They’re buying them boys' clothes.” MAHER: “And telling them you’re a boy now.” CROSS: “No, no, they’re not telling them. They’re just agreeing with [them].” MAHER: “Agreeing with an 8-year-old. Because when has their judgment ever been off at 8?” CROSS: “You know you knew you weren’t gay, right?” MAHER: “Yeah, that’s different.” CROSS: “It’s not different.” MAHER: “It is different. Good luck with President Vance. Because, as I always say to my woke friends, we voted for the same person. You’re just why she lost and this is a case of that.” CROSS: “Wait, what?” MAHER: “We voted for the same person…” CROSS: “Right.” MAHER: “You’re just why she lost. Because America hears this, and they’re going to go, ‘Bill’s right. Eight-year-olds can’t really make decisions on their own like this.’ That’s what most people are going to say.”

Bill Maher asks Ana Kasparian which Middle Eastern country she would feel comfortable wearing “that dress” and then this happened. MAHER: “If you had to live in the Middle East. Any city. Where would you live where you’d be comfortable in that dress?” ANA: “I’m sure I would not be comfortable in this dress in any of the various Middle Eastern countries that have been destabilized by—” MAHER INTERRUPTS: “Really? You’re not really blaming it on whitey, are you? You’re blaming Islam on whitey?” ANA: “I’m not blaming Islam on whitey.” MAHER: “But what you’re saying is we destabilize? That’s why you can’t wear that dress?” ANA: “Did we destabilize?” MAHER: “Wait a second.” ANA: “We were funding terrorist organizations in Syria during the Syrian civil war starting under the Obama administration.” MAHER: “We’re talking about your dress.” ANA: “It looks good, I know.” MAHER: “You’re saying you can’t wear that dress in Syria because of whitey destabilizing?” ANA: “I didn’t say that.” MAHER: “Okay, that’s what it sounded like… When I asked about the dress, you went right to destabilize. So is that why you couldn’t wear that dress?” ANA: “You want me to talk about jihadism and Islam.” MAHER: “Why won’t you? Why won’t you?” ANA: “I don’t believe in jihadism, which is why I’m furious the United States just had significant Al Qaeda terrorists in the White House.” MAHER: “But it’s not just jihadism that is preventing you from wearing that dress there. Are you saying every Muslim is a jihadist? I don’t think they are.” ANA: “Bill. Bill, Bill, Bill. Let’s focus for a second.” MAHER: “No, you won’t answer this question.”

Bill Maher: “Why Can’t We Even Call It Islamic Terrorism?” Bill Maher: Obama said, “No religion is responsible for terrorism. People are responsible for violence and terrorism.” That sounds a lot like the NRA slogan. Rob Reiner: Yeah. “Guns don't kill people, people kill...” Bill Maher: He also said, “The notion that the West is at war with Islam is an ugly lie.” The Atlantic said, “The reality is that the Islamic State is Islamic.” So, who's right about this? Rob Reiner: I think neither are right. If you look at the most violent Islamic groups, whether it's ISIS or Al-Qaeda, these are essentially Sunni-based. And they would not be where they are now, especially in Syria and Iraq, had we not removed Saddam Hussein. Bill Maher: He looks better all the time. Rob Reiner: I'm not saying Saddam Hussein was a good guy. Bill Maher: He wasn't a good guy, but sometimes there are no good answers. It's just the best one possible. Rob Reiner: Basically, it is a religious war, but it's a religious sectarian war. And to paint it all as “Islamic,” I think is a big mistake. Elahe Izadi: Obama is trying to avoid the phrase “Islamic extremism.” This was the same challenge President Bush confronted. Bill Nye: If you say everybody who's Islamic is a terrorist, you're headed for trouble. Bill Maher: No one is saying that. Bill Maher: But this idea that we cannot even call it “Islamic terrorism” seems Orwellian to me. We're paying a very high price for this, which is we can't discuss it even rationally. Can't we at least say that there are a number of factors involved, and the religion is certainly one of them? Rob Reiner: Absolutely. Bill Maher: He presented this idea that it's poverty and education. It is poverty and education also, but why are they impoverished and uneducated? It's mostly because of the religion. Bill Nye: What do you think about pumping the internet into there, somehow? So that everybody had access to all of these books... Bill Maher: Yeah, that's another thing the religion might be against. And not to mention the sex part. They're fucked up about women!

Bill Maher can't understand why Lindsay Clancy has so many "fans" outside the courthouse after she killed her three kids. He says it's "a little like Luigi." He asks an MSNBC contributor to explain why women are rallying behind her. Then he shares his own theory. BILL MAHER: “I just want to ask — this woman Lindsay Clancy, she killed her three children because she had postpartum depression. What I learned is that this is a very prevalent thing. It’s very real. I absolutely don’t think she knew what she was doing. I get that. What I don’t get is why does she have fans? There are so many women now who are, like, outside the courthouse. It’s a little like Luigi. I understand the frustration. Don’t understand why the fans. And is it just because this has been a cause célèbre that has gone under the radar for so long?” MOLLY JONG-FAST: “So my guess is that postpartum psychosis, which is what she had, is very real. I mean, it’s not so common, but it happens. And I think that a lot of women — this has sort of brought up postpartum psychosis as a topic. “The reporting on this story is horrific. Like, she keeps putting herself in mental institutions. She goes to McLean. She’s a labor and delivery nurse. So if there ever were a person who knows about postpartum care, it would be her. In the reporting, it says she doesn’t want to report how bad her symptoms are because she’s worried she’s going to lose her kids. It is one of the worst stories ever. And in my mind — you know, she’s paralyzed now. And so she’s in this wheelchair. I’m not sure that the courts are the answer to a problem like that.” MAHER: “Okay, but if we move away from just this extreme version... not a lot of women go to the length of killing their kid, but a lot of them are not afraid to say, ‘I don’t like being a mom.’ They put up TikToks just talking about it, and they seem to be just frustrated with what... mothers just expected was going to happen when you’re having a kid.”

Ana Kasparian picks a fight with Bill Maher about Israel and Gaza—then all hell breaks loose. ANA: “You wanna get exhilarated right now? I can exhilarate you.” MAHER: “I know you’re gonna say genocide, and I’m gonna say, well, you don’t know what the word means… Hamas is the bad guy. If you don’t get that, you don’t get much.” ANA: “What Hamas did on October 7th was disgusting killing.” MAHER: “Well, that’s the easiest thing in the world to say… If you hate oppression… Hundreds of millions of women have basically no freedom in the Muslim world.” ANA: “So we should slaughter them instead, which is what’s been happening.” MAHER: “Well, you should prosecute a war to the end. That does involve slaughter in every war.” ANA: “Civilians get killed in wars.” MAHER: “Especially when you hide behind them.” ANA: “But when 83%, according to the IDF’s own data… 83% of the people that they’ve killed are civilians—” MAHER: “Because they hide behind them.” ANA: “But Bill, do you understand that by killing so many civilians, they are essentially multiplying extremism.” MAHER: “I do understand that. Do you understand that there’s very often in the world two very bad choices… You don’t have a good choice. You have the bad choice and the even worse choice.” ANA: “Israel has nuclear weapons, Bill. They have nuclear weapons.” MAHER: “Well, they have nuclear weapons, which they don’t use. If Hamas had a nuclear weapon, how many seconds would it take before they used it on Israel?” ANA: “I don’t know.” MAHER: “Three. Three’s the answer. Three seconds.” ANA: “How do you know that, Bill? Come on.” MAHER: “Because it’s in their charter.” ANA: “You have a difficult time at least acknowledging the atrocities that have been committed against innocent civilians in Gaza.” MAHER: “Well, it depends on what you call an atrocity. All wars are going to have atrocities… During the Civil War, a lot of people would say, especially in the South, that Sherman did not have to burn Atlanta quite as badly as he did. I mean, we were pretty brutal. But would you also then just say, well, we don’t know who the good guys were in that war? No, I think it was the North.” ANA: “I think much of the problems we have in the Middle East are due to the enabling of this expansion. Look, it’s an expansionist policy.” MAHER: “They’ve never been trying to expand.” ANA: “They’re trying to annex the West Bank right now. And Lebanon—southern Lebanon—and Syria, which they’ve succeeded in.” MAHER: “Excuse me, these are all places that they were attacked from. When they became a country in 1947, they said, ‘Okay, we will accept half a loaf.’ They had as much right to that land as anybody. There was a continual presence there since 1000 BC, when King David had a kingdom.” ANA: “I don’t care about that at all.” MAHER: “But it’s relevant!” (MAHER AND ANA TALK OVER EACH OTHER) MAHER: “You’re calling them colonizers. They’re not colonizers.” ANA: “They’re expanding, and they’re annexing land. That’s what colonizers do.”

Dr. Debra Soh says when you see marriages in which women actually make more money than their husbands, there's a higher chance of divorce. There are all these other awful things that are associated with it that I discuss in the book. Yeah, like and there's more... Bill Maher: But that must be more and more common. Dr. Debra Soh: Cheating on the male part. Yeah, no, it's becoming more common. One in seven marriages are actually women are primary breadwinners now. Bill Maher: And also they're kicking ass in college in a way men aren't. Men have checked out. Dr. Debra Soh: Yeah. Bill Maher: You know, there's... you talk about... what's the word? I don't know, for like marrying up? Dr. Debra Soh: Hypergamy. Bill Maher: Exactly. I was testing you. Bill Maher: Um, hypergamy, which is the the square root of the hypotenuse, by the way, for kids who are watching this doing their geometry homework. No, hypergamy is um involved here because um the more men check out as far as academia... Dr. Debra Soh: Yeah, graduate school. Bill Maher: They graduate much less much fewer men now. Dr. Debra Soh: Yeah. Bill Maher: I mean, men are the ones who need affirmative action now in in in college. Dr. Debra Soh: Mm-hmm. Bill Maher: I mean, women can't find guys to marry up to. Dr. Debra Soh: Exactly. Bill Maher: Uh, there's a stat that we keep called "the unemployed," but the definition of unemployed is you don't have a job, but you're looking for one. There's another stat, which has I don't remember the number, but it's an astoundingly high number, like 7 million... Dr. Debra Soh: Yeah. Bill Maher: ...that's not unemployed. It's not working and not looking. Dr. Debra Soh: Right.
