Billy Strings, born William Lee Apostol on October 3, 1992, hails from Lansing, Michigan. He is an American guitarist and a remarkable bluegrass musician. Strings’ album “Home” clinched the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2021.

"Dust in a Baggie" is on his self-titled EP released in 2017, which would make him 18 years old. It's likely that the song wasn't written or performed much before that.
