Birmingham bin workers being told to take an £8k pay cut. These workers will be unable to pay their mortgages, their rent. Why are workers in #Birmingham paying for a crisis not of their making? This is the incompetence of Birmingham City Council.

I was out today with Birmingham refuse workers who are in dispute with Birmingham City Council. I'll say it again, workers should not be made to pay for the council's bad decisions. It's time to get decision-makers in the room and do the deal that protects these workers.

What's happening in Birmingham is an absolute disgrace. These workers woke up one morning and were told that they would lose 8,000 pounds from their pay. How can a Birmingham Labour council allow this to happen? This is #FireandRehire in any other name!

Some of these workers have been doing the job for over 20 years and they're being told by Birmingham City Council that they must drop their wages by a 1/4. I don't see the councillors' or council leaders' wages being dropped! Unite the union: join a union will not stand for it. #Birmingham
