Two men jailed for a stabbing in Chatham. Andrew Wedderburn, 22, of Peckham & Djorn Anderson, 23, of nfa Wedderburn (2nd pic) was jailed for four years for wounding with intent. Anderson ( 1st pic) jailed for five years and three months for wounding with intent and possession of a bladed article. Both men will serve a further two years and six months on licence when they are released from prison.

Two student police officers chased down and arrested a rape suspect in Birmingham. A man attacked a woman in a park on Golden Hillock Road, Small Heath, Birmingham. He approached her, followed her into bushes, and raped her before fleeing. Four days later, student officers, PCs Declan McDevitt and Peter Jones, spotted him during a patrol in the Sparkbrook area. They chased him on foot and arrested him on Ladypool Road. The suspect, Awalkhan Sultankhail, later pleaded guilty and was jailed for five years and three months.

A man who helped smuggle Vietnamese nationals into the UK over 18 days in 2020 has been jailed. Duc Quang Ta, 36, was convicted following a 16-day trial in February and was handed an eight year prison sentence on Friday 10 July at Birmingham Crown Court. His co-defendant Sarfaraz Sardarzehi, 58, received a two-year prison sentence suspended for 21 months. Ta had helped 22 Vietnamese nationals reach the UK illegally, while Sardarzehi was involved in helping three of the migrants
