Hope and pray everybody. Clear to me what the 14th amendment was about ~ a legal and just pathway for former slaves to affirm citizenship. Not the mass illegal immigration that has plagued us for generations.

A baby cannot pledge allegiance to a state. If their parents are illegals then they are all subject to another country's jurisdiction.

Interesting segment from today’s hearing on the birthright citizenship debate at SCOTUS: Justice Kagan arguing that birthright citizenship could logically exclude children of “sojourners” born on US soil because the nature of their visit to the US was never intended to be permanent. But the exclusion would not apply to the children of illegal aliens, presumably because when the illegal aliens illegally entered the country, their intention was to stay permanently, so their children born on US soil should be given citizenship. Interesting distinction that would effectively ratify the consequences of illegal conduct. Not convinced that’s what the Framers had in mind.
