i've watched about half of this but idk how you can talk for 15 mins about how proof-of-work is the measurement of time in bitcoin ntp is the measurement of time. and all of proof of work is based on it. the difficulty adjustment is arranged *around the ntp timestamps* to measure how long 2016 blocks took and make sure it's 2 weeks according to the median ntp timestamps in the block headers you can run this command to check what ntp timeserver you're using: cat /etc/ntp.conf i'm using if i was mining blocks, that's where i'd get my timestamp from that i'd put into the block headers the units of proof-of-work we require to find a valid block is completely derived from these average timestamps. bitcoin would have no idea if 1 hash was a lot or 1,000,000 hashes were a lot if it didn't measure them against the ntp timestamps given by miners in the block headers there's a whole class of attacks that explicitly targets the network time in blocks, these class of attacks are called "timejacking" or "time-dilation" in academia if you don't understand this aspect of bitcoin and instead pretend that proof-of-work is a substitute for time measurement or a clock in and of itself (as many podcasters and bitcoin influencers do), you've missed the entire point of how bitcoin works as a timestamp server and you're willingly gifting your confusion unto others
