Dude is like “if we create a global tyranny that can eliminate entire sectors of the economy by decree then Bitcoin will go to zero!” Yeah, that’s what we’re fighting lol.

This is such a lazy take. Climate scientists study greenhouse gas emissions from burning fossil fuels. 'Cut energy consumption' is a completely different agenda that he's smuggling in under the authority of climate science. Humanity has never used less energy over time. Not once. Our entire technological progress and productivity gains are driven by increasing energy use. We just keep getting better at generating and using it more efficiently. The actual goal is making energy cheaper and cleaner simultaneously. Technology is already doing that. Telling people to use less energy is telling them to be less productive. And then crypto and international travel are somehow the two biggest problems? While AI datacenters are burning through power at an insane rate right now? Come on. Lumping all crypto together shows a fundamental misunderstanding. Bitcoin's energy use IS its value proposition. As @saifedean argues, Bitcoin converts energy into the hardest money ever created. That energy is stored as monetary value. Most other blockchains don't even use that model. Meanwhile AI energy consumption is purely consumptive, nothing is stored, it just evaporates after every query. But sure, crypto is the problem. As Harari points out, human progress has always been a story of harnessing more energy, not less. Less energy consumption doesn't solve anything. It slows down the exact technological progress that's making energy cleaner in the first place.

Fancy missing a generation opportunity to make the investment of your life because of what might happen in the future. We will not cut the amount of energy we use, we will make more.

Total BS that Bitcoin is the big energy villain... Bitcoin mining uses around 150-200 TWh per year. AI via data centers is already in the hundreds of TWh and growing rapidly. By 2030, AI will account for roughly 3% of global electricity. AI is the real energy consumer here.

This is so stupid, so it’s OK to run all our banks on electricity but not BTC? When there are no banks, the amount of energy will look minute with BTC compared to now. Seriously…just insanely ignorant and it’s passed off as high intelligence.

If he thinks Bitcoin requires too much energy, he should see how much energy the existing monetary system uses! The legacy system significantly dwarfs the Bitcoin network a million-fold. If "climate change" is his concern (FUD), then he's making a case for Bitcoin not against it

It reminds me of I think "Same as Ever" by Morgan Housel where he mentions that how can someone can call himself a financial crash expert or recession expert when these events happen rarely (5-7 times) throughout the lifetime of any person.
