People really need to revisit their preconceived notions on $TAO. This week on Steady Lads > Bittensor has "gotten past so many halvenings" / "Overspent its emissions" Bittensor had its first halvening event on Dec. 14, 2025 and will not have another halvening until Dec 2029 as it follows the same halvening schedule at Bitcoin. By this logic Bitcoin also overspent its incentives when it paid 50 BTC a block to people mining on laptops who contribute nothing to the network today. > "Become overly gamified" The point on Bittensor incentives being overly gamified is a fair critique of Bittensor from like 2 years ago, but has not been updated to account for upgrades and subnet improvement. dTAO: made emissions a market based system where subnet owners need to attract investment in order to earn emissions from the chain. Before dTAO subnet owners had to convince top validators to give them emissions. Post dTAO subnet owners need to convince a whole market. Emissions at the subnet level have also become more difficult to earn, not less, as owners refine incentive mechanisms and miner competition rises. But hey if you still think Bittensor is gameable, Bittensor is a permissionless protocol so feel free register a UID and start mining.

Many Nigerians need to go on a good governance excursion. Recently, Nigerian livestreamer Carterefe travelled to the UK and came back sharing his experience of how developed the UK is and how far behind Nigeria is in many areas. This is why I believe many Nigerians need to travel and see how things work in other countries, so they can understand what is possible and start demanding better governance here. Because when we keep shouting about good governance, some people ignore us and think we are just doing politics. Sometimes, you need to see what is possible before you realise what you have been missing.

Yesterday, some Lords tabled amendments trying to add yet more layers of diversity and inclusion monitoring into the Football Governance Bill. It is very annoying when disingenuous or naive advocates of EDI take 'diversity' or 'inclusion' as simply harmless words, when in the hands of HR/governance bodies/regulators they can become politically loaded weapons.

This is precisely the issue that an MP from this area should be raising as a matter of law. It is a matter that goes to the root of the bad governance crisis in Zimbabwe and it is foremost in the minds of ordinary people. Why stifle true representation of the masses? A Bittensor subnet just outscored Claude and Cursor on the SWE benchmark. They spent less than $1 million to get there. Anthropic spent billions. I sat down with Mark Jeffrey, one of the most connected people in the Bittensor ecosystem, and he broke down everything. Here's what most people don't know about TAO. Bittensor takes Bitcoin's mining concept and makes it programmable. Instead of solving meaningless hash puzzles, miners compete on real AI tasks. Best freelancer wins. Blockchain pays them. No company. No CEO. No permission needed. Bitcoin did this for energy. Bittensor does it for talent. The numbers are wild: • Ridges (Subnet 62) built a Claude/Cursor competitor for under $1M • Miners on Ridges were earning $50K per day at peak • The Bittensor network has 128 subnets, each like its own AI startup • Mark says 20-30 of them could become multi-billion dollar companies • Only 20% of TAO is staked in subnets right now • Stakers are earning up to 80% yield on some subnets Mark has been in crypto since 2013. He was in the Ethereum ICO. He's seen every cycle. His take: Bittensor is the most important thing to happen in crypto since Ethereum. He calls TAO the "third great coin" alongside Bitcoin and ETH. The comparison to early Bitcoin is hard to ignore. TAO just had its first halving in December. Same 21 million supply cap. Same post-halving setup. When Bitcoin went through this phase, it jumped from $250 to $10,000. Mark's conservative target for TAO by end of 2026: $3,000. But the real insight was about demand.
