West Bengal has never been ignored by this government. In fact, it is the TMC government that is hurting the growth of the people of West Bengal. West Bengal withdrew from the Ayushman Bharat Scheme in January 2019. Is that good for the people of Bengal? Industries are leaving West Bengal. From 1 April 2011 to 30 September 2025, 448 listed companies and 6,447 unlisted companies have exited the state. Since 2014, ₹5.94 lakh crore has been given to West Bengal as tax devolution - a 4.4× increase compared to the ₹1.34 lakh crore provided during 2004–14. Under SASCI, ₹24,000 crore has been provided as 50-year interest-free loans. AIIMS Kalyani in West Bengal has been opened. Eleven medical colleges have been approved in West Bengal under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS). Under the NDA government, West Bengal received a record railway budget allocation of ₹13,955 crore for 2025–26, which is more than three times the average outlay of ₹4,380 crore during 2009–14. 101 Amrit Stations are being developed in West Bengal at a cost of ₹3,847.5 crore. 1,650 km of railway lines have been electrified - taking total electrification in West Bengal to over 98%. Over 2,300 km of National Highways have been constructed in West Bengal since April 2014. In August 2024, the Government of India approved the development of Bagdogra Airport in Siliguri, West Bengal, at an estimated cost of ₹1,549 crore. - Smt. Today, I had the privilege of attending Paschimbanga Divas event, officially observed as the State Foundation Day by the State Government, first time since Independence, alongside Hon'ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji at Tarakeshwar in Hooghly district. The date June 20 and the venue is of historical significance as Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee had organised a Convention at Tarakeshwar in 1947, where a decision was taken to ensure that West Bengal remained within India and that the Hindu-majority areas of undivided Bengal did not become part of East Pakistan. Later, on June 20, 1947, a Resolution supporting the partition of Bengal and the inclusion of West Bengal as a in India was passed in the Bengal Legislative Assembly. Hon'ble Prime Minister while addressing the audience said the State of West Bengal is witnessing a renewed sense of confidence and pride and a new fragrance is wafting from every particle here; as if West Bengal has now broken free from its shackles. I express my deepest gratitude to Hon'ble PM for acknowledging the State Government's efforts to accelerate border fencing along the India-Bangladesh border, which the previous State Govt had deliberately obstructed. I also thank him for the support and assistance provided by the Central Government which is helping the State Government in fulfilling the promises made to the People of West Bengal before the Polls. I wholeheartedly thank Hon’ble PM for launching a series of development projects for West Bengal and laying the foundation stones for several schemes from the Tarakeshwar dais. It is a matter of great pride that he released the latest instalment of the PM-Kisan scheme worth ₹18,880 crore, benefiting more than 9.44 crore farmers across the country, from West Bengal. Today, I attended janasabhas at Amdanga and Haripal, and led a padyatra covering Shibpur and Howrah Dakshin in support of our Maa-Mati-Manush candidates. The resounding uludhwani of our mothers and sisters, and the thunderous applause of our brothers, charged the air with an energy and emotion that words can barely capture. It is on the strength of this love, and with these blessings, that we press forward in our mission for Bengal's development. The zamindars sitting in Delhi have long treated Bengal as an afterthought, a state to be exploited during elections and ignored thereafter. The BJP makes sweeping promises to Bengal every five years, yet when the time comes to deliver, they withhold funds that rightfully belong to this state and its people. This is a deliberate betrayal. The people of Bengal have seen through it, and they will no longer accept it. Outsiders cannot understand Bengal, its soil, its soul, its centuries of culture and resistance. They come here with the politics of division; we answer with the politics of development. Trinamool Congress has stood by the people of Bengal through every storm, and we will continue to do so. This election is Bengal's moment to speak. To protect our heritage, our rights, and our dignity, I urge every community, every faith, every language to vote for Peerzada Kasem Siddiqui from Amdanga, Dr. Karabi Manna from Haripal, Dr. Rana Chatterjee from Shibpur, Nandita Choudhary from Howrah Dakshin, and joraphool candidates across Bengal. The time has come to democratically, decisively, and permanently bid farewell to the BJP from Bengal.

The moment the results were declared, Bengal’s business community has been feeling absolutely delighted. Among them, the biggest industrialist Sanjiv Goenka must have been the happiest. Over the years, he has been seen as a vocal supporter of BJP and Narendra Modi, a stance that, in a politically charged environment, has inevitably drawn scrutiny. Especially from the TMC! In India’s federal structure, businesses often have to navigate complex relationships with state governments, regardless of political alignment. For large conglomerates operating across sectors, maintaining this balance is less a choice and more a necessity, unfortunately. What often gets overlooked in the narrative, however, is the sheer scale of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group’s investments outside West Bengal, in NDA rules states. The group currently has a project pipeline of nearly ₹72,000 crore under implementation across states like Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh, aligned with India’s renewable energy ambitions. Which raises an important question: why is Goenka still largely perceived as a “Bengal-only” industrialist? West Bengal has, for decades, grappled with the challenge of attracting large-scale industrial investment. The widely discussed Singur Tata Nano controversy involving Tata Motors became emblematic of these concerns, shaping investor sentiment for years. Since then, perceptions around ease of doing business in the state have remained a topic of debate. I’m sure Goenka, along with many industrialists, must be breathing a sigh of relief now that the BJP is in power in the state. The years of extortion money taken from them as part of 'electoral bonds' will finally end and we will finally get to see the golden phase of West Bengal.

Must say, both our present State and Central Governments deserve an award for propaganda, exaggerated narratives and political marketing. And before anyone labels me, I repeat once again. I do not support any political party, neither All India Trinamool Congress, nor Bharatiya Janata Party, nor Indian National Congress. I also openly accept that there were mismanagement issues during Mamata Banerjee’s government (including corruption, gunda-gardi, political fatigue, infiltrator mismanagement, some level of anti-incumbency and some rare but concerning incidents related to women’s safety.) But the reality is that almost every BJP-ruled state faces the same issues, in most cases, on a larger scale than what Bengal witnessed. The difference is: BJP mastered the art of narrative-building. Through aggressive propaganda, emotional polarization and exaggerated storytelling, they successfully injected division, hatred and fear among ordinary citizens while portraying themselves as some “God-sent saviors” of every state. Show us honestly. Apart from Gujarat which state has transformed so extraordinarily under BJP rule that it became a model beyond comparison? Despite all the propaganda against Bengal: • West Bengal remained among the top 6 contributors to India’s GDP. • Kolkata continued to remain one of India’s richest 3 metropolitan cities. • Kolkata was repeatedly ranked among the safest metropolitan cities in India. • West Bengal also performed way better than many states in unemployment indicators according to various datasets. It’s 5th state on lowest unemployment scale . Yet BJP strategically succeeded in emotionally influencing innocent minds with the constant “Hindu khatre mein hai” narrative and gradually expanded its political space in Bengal. Now let us see what real changes and improvements BJP actually brings to Bengal for the betterment of the state and its people, beyond slogans, propaganda, and polarization. Still hoping for genuine development, stability, and progress for Bengal and for India. Our Beloved Kolkata and Bengal Before 4th May 2026, Thank You For making and keeping Bengal so Beautiful 🙏🏼till 4th May 2026

On the eve of Teachers' Day, I paid my heartfelt tribute today to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan at Dhanadhanya Auditorium. I also extended my sincere respect to all the teachers and educators who have illuminated our lives with knowledge for generations. I am proud to have acknowledged the extraordinary contributions of 73 teachers in the field of education in Bengal at this grand event by presenting them with the 'Siksha Ratna' award. Additionally, 12 schools in the State were honoured as 'Sera Vidyalaya' for their overall excellence in academics and sports. Today, we also honoured 387 meritorious students who secured a place in the merit lists of this year's Madhyamik, Higher Secondary, Alim, Fazil, High-Madrasah, ICSE, ISC, CBSE (Class 10 and 12), Joint Entrance, and Vocational examinations. This included meritorious tribal and Scheduled Caste students, who were also felicitated. I once again extend my best wishes to all of them. Our 'Ma-Mati-Manush' government has introduced various scholarships and other benefits so that the students of Bengal don't have to worry about their education. 93 lakh girls are now part of the. ‘Kanyashree’ program. We have provided approximately Rs. 16,000 crore to these girls under this programme. More than 1.25 crore scholarships have been given to tribal and scheduled caste students under ‘Shikkhashree’ scheme. Under 'Aikyashree' and other minority scholarships, approximately 4.56 crore scholarships have been provided to minority students at a cost of Rs. 9,747 cr. About 40,000 minority students have also received Rs. 316 crore in educational loans. 6.65 lakh scholarships have been given to OBC students under the ‘Medhashree’ program. 36.55 lakh students have received Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship. 53 lakh students have received smartphones under 'Taruner Swapna' at a cost of Rs. 5,300 crore. We have already distributed more than 1.38 crore bicycles under ‘Sabooj Sathi’ with a total cost of approximately Rs. 4,730 crore. The distribution of bicycles has started this year as well, and an additional 12.50 lakh students will receive them at a cost of Rs. 525 crore. Approximately Rs. 10,000 crore has been spent to provide students with free textbooks, school uniforms, school bags, and shoes. We have seen the benefits of our work. The dropout rate has significantly decreased, from the primary to the higher secondary levels. In 2011, the dropout rate at the higher secondary level was 17.48%, which has now dropped to 3.30%. Today, I also unveiled the book, 'The Gems of Bengal, 2025', a compilation of the life stories and aspirations of the State's meritorious students. This day has become more memorable for me for a very personal reason, also. I once had the opportunity to be a part of the noble profession of teaching. From 1975 to 1978, for three years, I taught at Manmatha Nath Nandan Boys and Girls School (now known as Bhawanipur Modern School). Today, the school's headmistress, Dr. Srilata De, and one of the members of the school's management committee, Mr. Biswanath Basu, honoured me as a former teacher. This recognition brings me great pride and joy. Finally, I would like to tell my young students: apart from being good at your studies, you must become good human beings as well. You must work for the betterment of the nation, for the people, and for Bengal. Remember, true intelligence builds society. All teachers of Bengal are our pride. I offer my humble respect and best wishes to all these architects of human beings on the eve of Teachers' Day. Jai Hind. Jai Bangla.

Bardhaman always occupies a place of pride in India’s Green Revolution. Rightly called the ‘Rice Bowl of Bengal,’ Bardhaman continues to nourish our State as well as our country. Today, I am taking this opportunity to extend my sincere & heartfelt gratitude to our farmer brothers whose toil has made Bengal the largest rice-producing State in the country. Today, from the Bardhaman Municipal High School Ground, for Purba Bardhaman District, I have inaugurated 1,452 projects worth Rs. 784.49 crore. Besides, I have also laid today the foundation stone for 171 projects with cost involvement of Rs. 699.23 crore for Purba Bardhaman District. Similarly, for Paschim Bardhaman District, I inaugurated today 24 projects worth Rs.110.39 crore and also laid the foundation stone for 23 projects amounting to Rs. 51.69 crore. Apart from these, I have handed over both agricultural as well as homestead pattas to a large number of beneficiaries across 14 districts. Since 2011, our ‘Maa-Mati-Manush' government handed over 2 lakh 26 lakh homestead pattas, 1 lakh 80 thousand agricultural pattas and 47,000 forest pattas. I am also extremely happy to initiate Phase XI of Sabooj Sathi today, under which around 12 lakh 50 thousand students of Class IX will be given Bi-cycles. Today, I have already separately tweeted on this Sabuj Sathi scheme at length. In addition to that, benefits of various social welfare schemes of the State Government have also been extended today to around 1 lakh 50 thousand people today, which includes more than 72,000 women, who will receive financial assistance under 'Lakshmir Bhandar' , more than 50 thousand Self-Help Groups who will receive loans, more than 9,800 students who will receive 'Shikshashree' scholarships, more than 4,800 women who will be provided financial assistance for their marriage under 'Rupashree' and 2,500 families who will be provided housing under 'Banglar Bari'. As a major initiative towards regional infrustructural develoment, I have laid foundation stone of a 3-lane 'Shilpa Setu' over river Damodar, parallel to the existing Krishak Setu along Bardhaman -Arambagh Road at a cost of Rs. 347.11 crore. This will further ease the connectivity between Purba and Paschim Bardhaman, Bankura and Hooghly. It is quite unfortunate that BJP, without any political vision and unable to resist the impact of the pace of development that Bengal is witnessing today, not only has stopped the release of development funds to our State, but has also started maligning our Bengali language, besides humiliating and torturing our people. But let me make it clear that neither can anyone stop the pace of development in Bengal, nor can anyone prevent us from speaking our mother tongue. Myself and our 'Ma- Maati-Manush' government will always remain committed to uphold the pride and welfare of our people. Jai Hind! Jai Bangla!

The extraordinary enthusiasm, the genuine warmth, the spontaneous emotional outpouring of ordinary people at yesterday’s padyatra and janasabhas have moved me in ways that words can only approximate. This is a bond, forged over years of standing together through every challenge this land has faced. The victory of Maa-Mati-Manush is no longer a matter of prediction. It is a matter of time. This sacred land of Bengal has, since time immemorial, stood as a beacon of harmony, culture, and civilisational pride. It has no place for divisive, destructive forces who seek to deprive Bengal of its rightful dues, tarnish its heritage, and ride their lust for power over the dignity of its people. They will receive the only response they deserve. A decisive, democratic reckoning from the vigilant and united people of Bengal. The momentum of development has touched every corner of this state. No malicious force can halt it. Our people-centric welfare initiatives are the protective shield of Bengal's citizens, and no power on earth has the authority to snatch them away. I remain firmly confident that the people will continue to stand for Bengal's development, peace, and progress as they always have. To protect our language, our culture, and the proud legacy of this land, I humbly appeal to every citizen, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, or background, to press the Joraphool symbol on 29th April and ensure a resounding victory for all Maa-Mati-Manush candidates.
