The celebration is that ALL chattel slavery ended in America. You don’t celebrate a victory 98% of the way, you celebrate when it is complete.

Yes, he's wrong. Our ancestors were freed by the SAME Emancipation Proclamation en mass in the rebellious states. Those in Texas have the distinction of being the last to be Emancipated by said Proclamation. We have and continue to celebrate #Juneteenth as ONE PEOPLE.
