Native Americans had very dark skin because they spent most of their time outdoors in the sun hunting and foraging, they didn’t spend time indoors, today’s native Americans have lost a lot of pigment due to indoor lifestyles and even sunscreen. My ancestors were Ojibwe from the Great Lakes

I find it extremely highly likely that everything she stated is actually the truth. The native Americans were originally called blacks…ever heard of the Blackfoot tribe?? I will even take things a step further and say that a lot of the black natives that were already here are actually The Israelites that God calls his chosen people. Every human alive is a descendent of two African people. Having said that, there are those Africans that didn’t migrate anywhere and thus didn’t phenotypically adapt to any environment outside of the continent of Africa. As an AFRICAN AMERICAN, my descendents are directly descended from Africa via the transatlantic slave trade if genetic testing were done going back at-least 1,000+ years. Due to the transatlantic slave trade and migration to other places DNA from other groups will be seen but insignificant percentage. Those Africans that migrated out of Africa phenotypically adapted to the environment and terrain they stayed in outside of Africa and hooked up with subhumans that didn’t make because they weren’t strong enough, simple as that. It’s why we don’t see them roaming around today. It’s why you say European or Asian as a designation to indicate what environment and terrain those Africans adapted to. If you do dna testing of their genes and look back 1,000 years it’ll reveal some European, Asian, etc continent. Not complicated and very simple. She’s direct African descendant and most African Americans are as well.

So it’s all speculative for the points she brings up but there is some evidence … researching my DIL in the South whose grandfather is Indian I was surprised to find birth and death certificates back to the 1800s for her ancestral family. Within these records such as census and Bible you find family groups. Within the same family, I found records for brothers and sisters , and some birth certificates said they were Indian and some said they were colored, all within the same family . I wondered why? The answer was connected to the Trail of Tears and some of the Indian groups wanted to stay on their land and so claimed colored. The photos I found you honestly can’t tell if they were Indian (in Alabama the Creeks I think are a blend of Cherokee Seminole and one other.) Yes some of these Creek Indians were slave owners too. But, there are records to search. The Daughters of the American Revolution are organizing these records to help Black and Indian families identify their roots. So many fought in the American Revolution . if anyone wants to search. I think these discoveries do more to bring us to together than divide us into skin color groups. I feel the need to learn my ancestral family and roots and I appreciate how important it is for all of us. Good luck and I hope it all comes together for everyone here.
