“black americans know where they’re from.”

Speak for yourself, I want to know my my ancestors before their names were changed . Every group can just about pin point their ancestors so far back

not every group of the diaspora can pin point, actually. that’s the point of this video. also, knowing your ancestors does not change where YOU are from. black americans are from america. our ancestors are from west africa.

I fully agree I do think she was speaking more on ethnicity tho when I ask a white person what is their background they are quick to say Irish, itallian, British etc but I know for AA for horrible reasons cannot give an answer unless they’ve done the dna work

3 of my Grandparents were born in the US. All 6 of their Grandparents were born in the US. And for sure 5 of my Great-Great Grandparent’s Parents were born in the US.

She articulated my thoughts so perfectly 👌🏾

Non Americans understand American history better than Americans smh

I’ve been saying this….for YEARS! We have our own culture and ancestors FROM HERE!! Does NO ONE know what this flag means?!?! 👇👇👇 we are AMERICANS!

Right? Like where do people get this from? Black culture is probably more internationally known as well because of the music, literature, art, swagg, etc

Stop saying we built it for “free”. The price was our lives, freedom and homeland. Stating that side steps the horrific treatment of our ancestors. Not claiming America as a point of origin is not negating our culture contributions. But our “contribution” is a form of survival.

@TheFineFeminine This is the first time I’ve heard this argument, and it was excellently made.
