He did NOT create it. This process was created in 2005 in the Philippines. This built on earlier lab work from the 70's. The process is called pyrolysis.

People have been doing this for decades. There are just a lot of drawbacks when converting plastics into gasoline through pyrolysis.

Two things. 1.) Plastic is a biproduct in the refinement of oil into petroleum. 2.) Although it is possible to create a fuel from plastic, the affects of running such a fuel will drastically impact the life/performance of the engine. He basically just ruined that car.
