Back in 1959, I had the tremendous honor of singing with the great Nat King Cole on The Pat Boone Chevy Show. What a moment that was, and what a voice he had. Nat brought warmth, soul, and unmatched artistry to every note. Sharing the stage with him wasn’t just a highlight of my career, it was a meaningful step forward during a time when TV audiences rarely saw black and white artists performing together. But music has always had the power to bring us together, and Nat and I were simply doing what we both loved: singing from the heart. During Black History Month, I’m proud to look back at that performance and to honor the many Black artists who helped shape American music and inspired me deeply.
