Simplicity. Cod games (and games in general) are over complicated when they shouldn't be. They weren't focused on micro transactions and milking the game. Just had to release a finished game that was fun and had some progression.

Because COD had a distinct feeling, sound, and look back then. They got away from all 3 of those completely. They had the recipe, just needed to update graphics, game modes and maps over time.

What I loved about these older CODs is that there was no meta. You could use nearly any gun and still have your record be fully dependent on your skill.

Yeah it is. There's only 1 or 2 active EU server if you're lucky. It's looking grim

I only have access to a PS3, no X360. Fortunately it’s very alive there, hitting like 800 players online on average. Free online as well. Only issue is that stats won’t save on new accounts, currently I’m developing a plugin that hopefully fixes this. At least got MW2 to work.
