In 2026, AI world models will take the spotlight in storytelling - powering new types of interactive experiences & digital economies not seen before World models are progressing rapidly - Marble World Labs and Genie 3 Google DeepMind already generate 3D environments from text prompts, allowing users to explore them as if they were video games As creators adopt these tools, new storytelling formats will emerge. One genre I'm excited about is "generative Minecraft" - where players co-create virtual worlds together by vibe coding with world models. Game mechanics could be programmable with natural language - ex. "create a paintbrush that changes the color of anything I touch to pink" World models will also likely give rise to not just a single game, but an entire new category of generative world experiences - you could have a horror experience where you’re hiding from generated monsters, or a D&D experience where you’re roaming an infinite fantasy world with friends And with a common base model for the underlying worlds, these experiences could be inter-connected in a multiverse we could only dream about previously in science fiction A key affordance here is the role of consumers as co-creators - you can wander the multiverse as a tourist, or break out your pickaxe and become a creator anytime. Jim Jarmusch on why editing is similar to sculpting & how he wanted "Dead Man" (1995) to feel like: "Interviewer: Are you the kind of director who finds the film in the cutting room or do you do the montage in your head as you shoot? Jarmusch: I’m in-between. When | go in the cutting room, I have a pretty good idea of how a scene was intended to be cut together. The editing is very important because you get to a Zen-like place where the film starts telling you how to cut it. A lot of scenes were shot for 'Dead Man' that are not in the film. Shooting is like cutting up big pieces of granite that are sort of in the right shape of the thing you want to sculpt out of them. And then you go back, and the shape is not exactly what you had in mind so you sculpt them some more. I like the process. That’s why I never use a storyboard, and on 'Dead Man' I didn’t even have shot lists in advance. I don’t want to know in advance what we’re going to do because then we are not thinking on our feet. Interviewer: How did you work out the conception of the film’s look with DP Robby Miiller? It’s a black-and-white film with lots of shades of gray. And the landscapes were quite ugly but beautifully so. Jarmusch: We worked hard to use black and white like it was used in the ’30s and ’40s when the gray scale was the color palette. We wanted to avoid the recent “hard” black-and-white look, although the blacks are very black and the whites are very white. We wanted a feeling like a film by Mizoguchi. And when we were scouting for locations, whenever we saw any magnificent view, like a postcard type, we would appreciate it, Robby and I, and then turn out backs and look for our location with that out of view." How to Build a Proper Product Page It breaks my heart every time I see someone from Brazil, making just $200 a month, spend $40 on a test ad only to get a $2 CPC. Then, they cut the ad at $35 spend with 17 clicks and 0 conversions. What’s even more frustrating is when I visit their site and see it’s a complete mess. It’s like they didn’t even try. That’s why I’m making this post. *Disclaimer: If you're building a brand, this isn’t for you. This is for testing products correctly with a website that’s good enough to convert, but if you’re serious about your brand, hire a Figma designer and a developer to get things done right. As a fun fact, I tested the following product myself (In the video below) and with just one click at a $3 CPC, I got a sale with an $80 AOV (100% CVR). I paused the ads because the CPMs hit $150. If you're interested, save this product for the future. I'll share the creatives i used to ran the product with those who comment below. "jordan, stop teaching high school kids about selling reps and getting them sued by Prada or other big brands, ruining their payment gateways, and crushing their dreams." (with 5 random people only will do it, wouldn't make sense for everyone to be ripping it). Shoutout to Adrian for this one. 🫡 Back to the important stuff: Let’s talk about creating a great product page. First off, ditch the “Buy Now” button. By using this, you miss out on the chance to increase your Average Order Value (AOV) through upsells during checkout. Instead, replace it with an “Add to Cart” button. Also, remove the quantity selector. Hardly anyone uses them on the product page, but they do in the cart. Instead, offer bundles, which you can set up using the Kaching Bundles app or your theme if it supports this feature. The cart experience is crucial, and you can optimize it using the UpCart app. Enable all its product page features so it takes over the standard Shopify cart or your theme’s cart. The built-in cart systems are outdated—they don’t allow upsells like UpCart does. Plus, UpCart directly opens the cart after a product is added, where the upsell option appears at the bottom, increasing your chances of boosting AOV. Pay attention to color schemes. Don’t use neutral colors for headers and buttons if your product features a primary color. A yellow jacket with a black header is like pizza with raspberry syrup—just doesn’t work. If your product images are gray, white, or black, match those with your headers and buttons. Otherwise, play around with colors to give your page some dynamic appeal. Bookmark this site to get color palettes that match your primary color. For exact color matches, download the "ColorZilla" extension, which gives you the exact color code of whatever is under your mouse on the screen. If your product color is #6E402A, you’ll know it and can match it perfectly with your header and buttons, creating a visually appealing contrast like Cider did here below. Right now, when some of you send me these websites, they look like government pages from the early 2000s. Next, consider the typography and button styles. For fonts, use Helvetica Regular for body text and Helvetica Bold for titles, both at a minimum size of 100%. It’s simple and effective. As for buttons, they should have a corner radius of 8px. To change these settings, go to the theme settings - typography/buttons and adjust the buttons and typography accordingly. Rounded buttons create a modern, inviting feel, while full square buttons can give off an outdated vibe. Even casinos in Vegas design their buildings with curves, ensuring that visitors always have a view angle that draws them back in—it’s all about keeping things appealing and engaging. Finally, the product page layout itself should be clean and concise. Use collapsible rows for your product descriptions. No one wants to read a novel, so keep it compact and focused. Images and videos are what sell—this is why we don’t use text-heavy images in our ads; they just bore people. Keep the description short, with enough information to inform but not overwhelm. If you need to include more features, put them in the FAQs section—that’s what they’re for. The goal is to make sure that the "Add to Cart" button is visible as soon as possible once the customer lands on the product page, without overwhelming them but providing just enough information—some key benefits, high-quality images, and buying options in the bundles. Once they hit the cart, the upsells will do their job. Remember, the three essential apps for setting this up are Loox Reviews for customer feedback (use the product widget reviews at the bottom of the page before the FAQs and the rating widget just above the title), Kaching Bundles for offering package deals, and UpCart for optimizing the cart experience. 💥EGGPLANT BREADWICH This is another lowcarb bread hack thats ACTUALLY good and one of my favorites. Makes two servings at 350 calories, 20g protein, and you can add chicken or steak to make the protein more substantial. But honestly, it was just as good without any of those - it gave me some serious Mediterranean food vibes with all these summer flavors. If you want a low-carb sandwich that hits the spot, this one’s for you. The cheese is actually baked into the eggplant, making a great flatbread like vessel that you can use to make your favorite lowcarb, keto-friendly sandwich. Top it up with whatever you want. Full recipe below, and you can always comment “BREAD” and I’ll send you my free mini lowcarb breadwhich ebook. Here’s how to make it (makes 2 servings): 1.Preheat your oven to 400F. Grab 1 large eggplant and thinly slice it using a knife, mandoline or vegetable peeler. 2.Season them with salt, lay the slices on a paper towel and pat them dry after 5 mins. 3.Grab an oven-safe tray, line it with parchment paper, and sprinkle a thin layer (1 serving) of shredded cheese (ideally mozzarella) directly on the paper. Lay out your eggplant slices slightly overlapping to form a rectangle. then add another 2 servings of shredded cheese on top. 4.Pop it in the oven for 27-30 mins until the edges are golden and the cheese is crisp. Let it cool slightly. 5.I used 2 tbsp of pesto as the base, added 2oz of thinly sliced fresh mozzarella, a thinly sliced tomato, a handful of arugula, a couple of basil leaves, lots of fresh cracked pepper, and a nice drizzle of balsamic glaze. 6.Carefully roll it up tightly from the bottom, pressing gently as you go to keep everything compact. There's been recent discussion on cloning methods and techniques, I figured I'd share mine, since I've done a clone or two at scale. Knowing what we all know about cloning different strains, and that they all root at different speeds, it's important to note that I grew 25 different strains in here. This was literally my job, I was their greenouse/mother genetics preservation/clone manager. X hostility has increased exponentially lately, so let's address it now. This post may hurt some people's feelings, may cause some anger and a little controversy(If that's you, search within), but I'm just relaying what I've found testing these things at scale, rather than going off of anecdotal instances and remembering what I did(or someone lese) with 10 clones in my 4x4 tent off the top of my head, like many do here. Whether you do these procedures, or not, or whether you have problems, or not -is entirely irrelevant to this post. That's not to say your results aren't real, just that you came to your conclusion unscientifically. This is about other cloning methods, best practices, and this is showing what I've done that works. This was also 4 years ago, and they profited millions that year with high quality flower, so save those comments as well, they're moot. I also no longer work for, or are affiliated with, this farm in any way. We ended our relationship in early 2022, and I wish them the best of success in the future, and they still exist today. They were given the rights to all media and promotional material I filmed and photographed during my 6 years living on the farm, and I likewise have permission and full rights to use whatever footage I recorded there. The only company I'm currently sponsored by, is HardyGro, and their products won't be discussed here. Now, let's get to it. Please be advised, if your ambient RH is below 50%, you will not be able to leave the domes off for long at all. Use a mister to recover them if they wilt on you, and adjust these following procedures accordingly: Use Root Riot or similar rooting medium, other peat based cheaper mediums work well, too, but I found these work the best. 1. Wipe out your domes. If this takes several times per day in a greenhouse of thousands of them, so be it-get it done. You essentially eliminate any fungal issues that may arise with 24/7 100% humidity stagnant air. Remember, the clones are also absorbing water through their stems. 2. Days 1-3, 3 times per day, take the domes off, and wave the plants with it(or place them near a fan for at least 30 seconds). This ensures a thorough air exchange, which also prevents fungal diseases, and proper N,o2 and co2. 3. Beginning days 3-4, remove your domes for several hours at a time. By day 7, remove the domes completely. 4. And this is important - allow the cubes(in this case) to dry down somewhat, they will root faster. 5. Cut your lights back, and never place them in direct sun, they can't handle it. 6. CloneX reigns supreme, period. I tested it against Foop Cloning Gel, Olivia's and Technaflora. Out of 500 clones to test each product, retention percentages were as follows: CloneX: 95+% Tech. : 80% Olivia's: 45% Foop: 0% success. The Fooped clones also grew an unidentified greenish/orange fungus at the base of every clone, and they were all culled. If the reported GAAP EPS ($1.05) is printed alongside a consensus of $6.67, the system flags it as a massive miss. Once the entire 3D sculpting process is approved, the models enter the skinning, rigging and weight painting process and are then passed to the animation team for further testing with various animations and another set of QA such as minimising clipping and identifying any other potential flaws in the model. Hyperspace: The Agentic OS Apple Should Have Built On December 19th, 2024, we announced the world’s first Agentic Browser. What followed was a movement — a new category was born which led to many early products in this space and recently the hundreds of people lining up outside the The Agentic Browser Summit in San Francisco underscored that. Silicon Valley instinctively gets it, from students to tech executives, people can feel a revolutionary new change in computing is in the air. Past year taught us why such a product was inevitable, a hard engineering effort, and also the last mover in the entire software world this decade if and when done right. At Hyperspace we showed that path with essays and products we launched in earlier months: from a spatial UI of orchestrating agents, to showcasing transparent activity in how the AI system operates which leads to user trust, to presenting the software end-game, which massively improves human productivity. We also built the world’s largest AI network, drawing participation from people in almost 6000 cities around the world contributing their machines as nodes in the network. Think Uber, but for AI. That is, planetary-scale. And now we are stretching this industry ambition further with our end-to-end vision of the Agentic Supercomputer, the first breakthrough new AI OS, and an effort which spans from AI research to distributed systems to inventing a new UI to inventing a new business model to complement it. All of this together helps us in serving our mission, of delivering “Everyone’s Personal Supercomputer”. While others have built AI-native browsers, no one though has built something agentic from the ground up — with AI as the foundation, not a feature. How do you fundamentally improve the lives’ of billions around the world ? We believe that requires building a native environment for agents to be viewed, created, deployed, executed, discovered and priced in. That is a world where we move on from static apps, to dynamic agents. But, as my 2 year old niece likes to ask: “but why ?” The issue is that the world of software today is fragmented, and everyone is sprinkling on AI as a feature and charging a subscription fees for it. This is not the future. What if AI was the foundation instead of a feature ? What if Apple had built a fundamentally new AI OS from the ground up and what would it have looked like ? At Hyperspace, that is what we did. On July 15th we introduced three breakthrough key pillars of our AI OS: 1. Agentic Browser 2. Agentic Memory 3. Agentic Payments And we didn’t stop there. We also introduced a breakthrough new user interface called the Spatial AI which is inspired both from the spreadsheet and the HyperCard - each card is an agent, with it’s own inputs and outputs, endlessly extensible and pluggable with others, just like cells of a spreadsheet. For example, the word kafir, meaning disbeliever, is often used by those who seek to divide society suggesting a clear differentiation between Muslims and non-Muslims. But when Prophet Muhammad was being attacked by ‘kafir pagans’ in Mecca and migrated to Medina with his companion Abu Bakr, it was actually a ‘kafir pagan’ by the name of Abdullah bin Urayqit, who was known for his trustworthiness and his knowledge of desert routes, who guided them both from the dangers in Mecca to safety in Medina. The Hijra, his migration from Mecca to Medina, is one of the most well known stories related in Islamic education. However, the vast majority of Muslims do not know the part about a ‘kafir pagan’ being the one who guided Muhammad and Abu Bakr to safety. So when terrorists shout out phrases like kafirs in a derogatory manner to try and divide society, they might be to ignorant or even too stupid to understand, but it was a kafir pagan who helped the person the terrorists say they admire the most, Prophet Muhammad. So when the Quran refers to a person a kafir, it simply means a person who has a different religion to your own. It isn’t a licence to attack them, to harm them, to mistreat them, to alienate them, to segregate yourself from them, or to create a separate society. In fact Prophet Muhammad encouraged his companions to visit their kafir family members on their religious occasions and to spend time with them i.e. just because you believe different things doesn’t mean you break ties with your family, your relations, and even your friends. The entire society and societal eco system at the time of Prophet Muhammad became a rich multi faith community, where yes, different religious points of view existed, but they were not used to divide society. They enhanced and added to the richness of that society. This missing context was probably never taught to the 7/7 terrorists, largely because it tears apart the notion of a them vs us, and it shows that plurality of faith, society and religion was the way Prophet Muhammad lived and preached during his life. In fact, look at another Arabic word, Ummah. This is used by Muslims the world over to refer to a muslim community, the Muslim Ummah. But actually, Prophet Muhammad’s use of the word ummah was never limited to Muslims-only. Prophet Muhammad’s Ummah included non-Muslim as well, specifically, in Medina, pagans and Jews. That is to say that ‘community’ is not defined by religion, rather, it is defined by the people with whom you live in safety with, this included non-Muslims, it includes the kafirs, it includes anyone and everyone who doesn’t seek to attack you, to harm you, to discriminate against you. This is why Prophet Muhammad in his farewell speech said, “There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab, or a non-Arab over an Arab. Nor of a white person over a black person, or a black person over a white person. The only thing which differentiates people is their piety, their righteousness" Islam doesn't teach privilege, it preaches equality in front of God with the only defining merit being the value you add to the society in which you live. Three of the 7/7 terrorists were aged 22, 19 and 18. They were young angry men led by a 30 year old. They were all taught a corrupt version of Islam that focused on division and blame. It was a failure of general society and also Muslim society that instead of providing clear educational mandates that presented context and meaning to the life of Prophet Muhammad and the way he lived his life. Limited narratives along with specific verses taken out of context were used to fuel their hatred. There is so much more that can be said on this subject, so many verses of the Quran or statements from the Hadith (sayings from Prophet Muhammad) that can be easily explained if a person choses to take time, to read, to research, to question and to understand. Religion and knowledge aside, it is enough to say that in our world there are two types of people: - Those who seek division - Those who seek to unity and peace The 7/7 terrorists chose those who sought division instead of those who chose peace, that was a bad choice made on all of their parts, and sadly lives were lost because they satiated their egos, their greed, and their idiocy. But it is enough to say that just as Prophet Muhammad and Abu Bakr found safety, comfort and security with the support of a pagan kafir, there is a lesson for every Muslim that just because a person is a pagan or any other kind of kafir, it doesn’t make them a bad person, an unreliable person, someone you cannot relate to, etc. And if a kafir was good enough for Muhammad and Abu Bakr to entrust their lives to, then a kafir is good enough for every Muslim to trust, to live alongside, to be friends with, and to share food with. If 7/7 teaches us anything it is that there will always be those who seek to exploit religious ignorance, and those who double double of religious arrogance to push a narrative of them vs us. For those who don't want to watch it all - here's some time stamps that cover the most important/most hilarious parts of the video. 1:08 - Site Speed Scamming 101 4:20 - Beginning of the actual findings of what we caught Nostra doing. 5:25 - Nostra CEO tweets about how vitally important it is to have your most critical information above the fold on your site. Then we show that they almost exclusively marketed their fake site speed scores above the fold. 6:37 - The 'before and after' that shows how radically different the Nostra team made their site after they realized they were being investigated (perhaps my favorite part) 11:05 - Before: YOUR SITE PERFORMANCE SCORE MATTERS ..... 1 day later, Nostra CEO: "Yeah page speed scores are pretty useless" 😂 12:07 - "Nostra clients are 8x more likely to pass core web vitals compared to non Nostra clients" *Lukas then shows how every single one of their 'success story' case studies are failing almost all core web vitals on their home pages.... 15:10 - Jake dives into the technical shortcomings of the Nostra product, from them using a deprecated form of rendering and claiming (falsely) that Google still endorses it, to showing that any visitor logged into any Nostra-enabled site is not fed the cached pages... meaning that many of their highest LTV clients are being given a drastically worse browsing experience.... + lots more! 29:47 - Lukas shows all of the deleted tweets from the Nostra CEO. Suspiciously, all of them just so happen to be based on page speed scores... hmm. The main points: - Nostra uses site speed cloaking tactics to artificially inflate performance numbers on Google's Page Speed Insights. There is no ethical reason to do this. It is a tactic used exclusively by site speed scammers. *A few people may point to the fact that Meta uses Lighthouse scores as one of many contributing factors to showing ads, so certain sites MAY see an uptick in paid performance on Meta while having these fake scores. This is a horrible basis to justify attempting black hat scams on Google tools. I'll be doing a whole separate video for this topic alone, but for now, just understand it is shortsighted and unbelievably stupid. - They then used those artificially inflated performance scores as the central focus of their entire marketing strategy. *They have released some hilariously inaccurate/misleading blog posts in the past week that try and claim they don't use cloaking and that their methods are totally ethical... you better believe we are doing a follow-up video that dismantles these blog posts paragraph by paragraph. - Various current and former clients of Nostra have confirmed that one of their central selling points when convincing them to pay for Nostra (often quoting/charging thousands a month) was that their Google performance numbers were going to go up, which meant a faster site, which meant more revenue. A blatant, irrefutable lie. - As we dug into their code, we found even more issues. Most notably, their 'crawler optimization' was stripping down pages for both Lighthouse (Page Speed Insights) as well as Googlebot, which means that the contents of any page 'client-side rendered' by Nostra in this way was almost entirely invisible to Google, as it saw basically nothing to crawl and index. - All of our findings were confirmed by over a dozen well-respected developers in the Shopify space, including high-ranking engineers at Shopify. - Before we notified Nostra of our investigation into them, Jake Casto (partner in this report) met directly with the Nostra team, including their Chief Lead Architect (?) and asked every question he could to gain as much context as possible. This meeting further confirmed all of our findings and even pushed some further. - Hours after we notified the CEO of Nostra about our investigation into them and the impending report we would release, their entire site changed.... like... CHANGED. Nearly every mention of 'page speed' or 'performance score' was stripped from the site, including all of their case studies. Additionally, they renamed an entire product. Their 'Crawler Optimization' tool became 'Bimodal Dynamic Rendering'.... - That same night, the Nostra CEO then deleted all tweets insinuating performance score as a benefit of using Nostra (proof shown in the video) and began publicly talking about how useless speed scores are. A metric they had long lauded as the single-most important aspect of what their tech improves was now "pretty useless" just a few hours later. - It is imperative to know that we did not mention ANYTHING about our interest in investigating their focus on performance scores as a key marketing strategy. All of these changes were made by them without knowing anything about what in particular we were investigating. Not shockingly, the main scam we were highlighting in our investigation is what was wiped entirely (within literal hours) from their site/their founders personal messaging. * go look at their site now and try to find any claims about performance scores on their home page. They even took them off the top of all their case studies. (we show this all in the video as well). - Nostra has since continued to modify their code, resulting in some of their 'success story' clients seeing a 50+ point drop in performance scores (shown in the video). More current and former clients continue to reach out and share more stories about the many sketchy happenings at Nostra. - Nostra also released a very weak response in the form of 2 blog posts that aim to justify their actions/tech. They have been sharing this with their clients and attempting to patch over the MANY inconsistencies and blatant lies they were caught in. As I said earlier, we will be doing a video dedicated to dismantling these blog posts in detail. Moral of the story. No SaaS is going to plug in to your Shopify store and drastically increase your performance scores in a matter of moments. Any tool or dev or agency, no matter how fancy they look and how much venture backing they have, will be able to get your Shopify stores' mobile performance scores into the 80/90's under any normal circumstances. If someone says they can... You are 100% being scammed. Site speed optimization is a complex development process that takes highly-skilled devs dozens of hours to do properly. Some Democrats are solely blaming Donald Trump for corporate America moving away from DEI. The truth is that corporations have been wanting to move away from DEI for years and Trump became a convenient scapegoat. The honeymoon phase of DEI ended a long time ago, they just didn't know how to officially separate from it. Just like any relationship that you move too fast with, the emotions of the situation blind you from seeing the true character of your partner and you over-implement good faith translations of behavior to rationalize an inevitably doomed relationship. The DEI industry has existed for a long time in one form or another but in reaction to the nationwide high emotions of the moment post the death of George Floyd, corporate America decided to marry DEI initiatives in our nation's moment of grief. Prior to 2020, most corporations didn't see the value in the initiatives of DEI and the practicality of fully adopting this shift in corporate culture. It's not to say that corporations didn't want a diverse workforce, it's just that DEI in practice prioritizes diversity as a significant factor in employment instead of a convenient byproduct. However, there was always a brewing industry waiting for the moment where this ideological framework could catch corporations on the rebound. As far back as 2015, Consulting firm McKinsey & Company, published a foundational report called "Diversity Matters" which became the key business case that influenced corporate DEI throughout the 2010s. The first inclination that this sudden marriage to DEI was destined to fail was because full adaptation of DEI by creating another department and C-Suite position as a Diversity Officer means raising financial demands for something that doesn't make money. In response to my New York Post article, titled "Why the diversity-industrial complex bubble burst," I appeared on Varney & Co on August 7th, 2023. In this segment I made this statement, "I think within corporations, ultimately it's about the bottom dollar. And the reason I personally knew that this was going to be much of a fad within corporate America to some degree." "It may not disappear completely, but it's going to drastically reduce itself. The reason being is because the DEI doesn't earn any money. And how do you actually rate the performance of diversity, equity and inclusion?" What many people don't understand about DEI is that it's not just a couple of added training sessions, it's that in the largest corporations in America, it's a behemoth of a department that radically alters how they operate and what they spend their money on. Investing money on a department structure that yields no profits yet spends money like a gambler is destined to disappear, especially in an economic downturn. Who even benefits from DEI? Most would presume that black people or other minorities are the primary beneficiaries of DEI positions in corporate America: They'd be wrong. White women benefit most from DEI because women are included in the diversity equation. It's estimated that about 63%-76% of CDOs (Chief Diversity Officers) are white women; 3%-4% are black (Zappia). Ironically, DEI is a white dominated field even in the non C-suite diversity positions. The association SHRM's 2021 data showed 61% of DEI professionals were women, the vast majority white women. The push to blame Donald Trump for DEI falling out of favor ignores the multitude of reasons why corporations fell out of love. Post-George Floyd, many corporations saw this as a public relations opportunity, throwing millions of dollars at any organization with "black" in its title and letting the world know about their alleged pledges. What they didn't expect was that making their diversity initiatives public brings them more scrutiny, not less. It's generally in the best interest of a company to remain neutral, especially if they provide a product for the public. When you take a stance and announce it, you risk losing a portion of your customer base or attacks from adversaries. Al Sharpton and other activists threatened a boycott against Target for their decision to drop all DEI initiatives and their racial equity program, which they pledged to invest $2 billion in black-owned businesses by the end of 2025. Their decision came January 24th, four days after Trump signed his executive order demanding the dismantling of DEI in the federal government. However, Trump was the scapegoat in their decision making. Target has been the "target" of activists and boycotts for their stance on social issues and product choices. In May 2023, the boycott stemming from their Pride Month collection contributed to a 5.4% drop in in-store sales and a 10.9% decline in online sales in Q2 2023, with CEO Brian Cornell acknowledging “negative guest reaction” as a factor. Oh, and we can't forget the many lawsuits brought against corporations stemming from diversity practices. IBM, Starbucks, Novant Health, have all faced lawsuits involving some form of discriminatory action due to diversity initiatives. And that's the final nail in the coffin of corporate DEI; it's legally questionable in practice. Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, and national origin. The EEOC's Commissioner has stated publicly when replying to Mark Cuban's endorsement of diversity based hiring practices. "You’re dead wrong on black-letter Title VII law. As a general rule, race/sex can’t even be a ‘motivating factor’—nor a plus factor, tie-breaker, or tipping point. It’s important employers understand the ground rules here.” Corporate America's relationship with DEI is coming to an end because the honeymoon phase is over and rationality is coming back to the forefront. There are way too many risks and financial burdens involved with these types of divisive practices to maintain this high-maintenance relationship. Just like any trend, DEI came into prominence quickly and now it's going away just as fast. And that's not Trump's doing: Corporate America was ready for this break-up.
