I grew up in a guest house in 70s Blackpool, the gov and greedy hoteliers killed Blackpool, when holidays abroad became affordable and visitor numbers fell the gov in their wisdom decided they would pay the hotels for people on benefits to stay there, that decision bought all the

Sad, but mainly to do with holiday’s abroad becoming cheaper and more accessible in the 70’s. This had a massive negative impact on coastal tourism in the UK.

For those saying this is 'cultural enrichment'-in the case of Blackpool-not true. The town has a tiny population of Black & Asian compared to the rest of Britain. The problem stems from lack of investment & policing & from housing the homeless along w/young criminals from London.

Just been left behind like the valleys in south Wales.... Took their votes mind.

Somehow the shit music is entirely in keeping with the new reality...

So sad to see the destruction of England’s seaside towns such as Blackpool. The country needs investment in its infrastructure - we are paying record high taxes, a lot of which is being wasted by the government. We need real change!!

@annesmith11589 We went to Blackpool on the way to watch our football team who were in that area that weekend. It was horrendous. Awful place. So wrong it has been allowed to get like that.
