The BBC likes instigating pile ons but it doesn't like being on the receiving end of them. During a Panorama episode, the BBC's flagship "disinformation reporter" Marianna Spring boasted on air about having our PayPal account shut down in response to a video platforming dissident medical voices, warning of the potential harms of experimental gene therapies back in December 2020. We received a torrent of hate mail; death threats, slurs, accusations of spreading fear and killing vulnerable people with dangerous misinformation. Since that time I've met or have been introduced to a lot of people that deeply regret taking a Covid injection. I don't know a single person that regrets not taking one. Many accepted a Covid jab because of the propaganda efforts of the BBC. Pardon me for not being too upset regarding the fallout from current events🤷‍♂️

Why did so many languages copy async/await from C#? Anders Hejlsberg(Anders Hejlsberg) - creator of TypeScript, C# & Turbo Pascal - on what they got right with the design: #1 - async/await was designed to solve a common problem in the event-loop model: "A lot of languages are built around cooperative multitasking in the sense that they have an event loop that sits and dispatches events. Then you handle the event and then you yield back to the event handler loop. And it all runs in a single thread cooperatively. The problem with that is if you then want to do some long running work: how do I stop in the middle of this piece of long running work and yield back to the event loop cooperatively? And then when my result is ready, I can come back and continue executing here." #2 - state machines are the solution, but hard to build: "Well, in order to do that in an inverted architecture like that, you have to build a state machine. State machines are notoriously hard for people to implement because you've got to move all of your state off of the stack into objects. And then you have this big case statement that envelopes your entire logic. It's a nightmare to figure out. But, the transformation from serially executing code into a state machine, its continuation-passing-style translation is actually one that you can do in a machine-based fashion." #3 - compilers are good at writing state machines: "You can have the compiler write the state machine if you introduce syntax that allows you to indicate where you want to yield. And that's what await is. Await is basically saying, I want to yield here, and I want to yield this promise, and then when the promise completes, I want you to come back here and continue executing. Then the compiler writes a state machine around it and it actually turns it into this big switch statement and moves all of the state that survives across the await into something that's heap allocated. So it can be brought back. And doing all of that work is something that compilers are great at. And so that was sort of the idea that we have this new style of programming where we're using promises or the equivalent of promises and the ability to yield and then we have callbacks. But trying to write your program in that style, that's also what JavaScript suffered from a lot. It's like all this callback style stuff. With Async and Await, you get the illusion that you're just writing normal sequential code and then the compiler does the painful transformation for you. That turns out to be really useful."

Oh man you gotta see this latest tea spill from Adam McIntyre it’s straight up comedy gold but in the saddest way possible. Ethan Klein from h3h3 was just chilling calling out the nonsense like he always does and suddenly Adam hops on his little political live stream looking all serious with those wire rimmed glasses from Temu and perched on his nose like he’s Hasan Piker 2.0 now. Bro really said “time to get deep” and started reacting to that North Star Radio video that tried to paint Ethan as some hardcore right wing podcaster. The only actual point Adam could muster up was basically “Ethan Klein and something about Israel and he’s from Israel” and then he just kinda trailed off without elaborating even a tiny bit. Like dude that’s your big gotcha? That’s the whole argument? No breakdown no context no nothing just vibes and a weak shrug. Then they both completely whiffed on the whole Anisa and iDubbbz situation where they were mocking Mahdi Jahromi that 90 Day Fiancé guy for going on about how great America is and how awful the Iranian regime was. Ethan Klein from h3h3 was just chilling calling out the nonsense like he always does and suddenly Adam hops on his little political live stream looking all serious with those wire rimmed glasses from Temu and perched on his nose like he’s Hasan Piker 2.0 now. Bro really said “time to get deep” and started reacting to that North Star Radio video that tried to paint Ethan as some hardcore right wing podcaster. The only actual point Adam could muster up was basically “Ethan Klein and something about Israel and he’s from Israel” and then he just kinda trailed off without elaborating even a tiny bit. Like dude that’s your big gotcha? That’s the whole argument? No breakdown no context no nothing just vibes and a weak shrug. Then they both completely whiffed on the whole Anisa and iDubbbz situation where they were mocking Mahdi Jahromi that 90 Day Fiancé guy for going on about how great America is and how awful the Iranian regime was. Ethan pushed back on that mockery because come on the dude was speaking from actual experience living under that regime and Adam and North Star Radio both failed hard at catching the context. They acted like Ethan was just being mean instead of pointing out that maybe mocking someone for loving freedom after escaping oppression is a bad look. And don’t even get me started on the Loner Box part. Outside the clip Adam straight up couldn’t explain who the guy even is beyond “he was on H3 once” like he forgot to do the bare minimum homework. It’s giving desperate little brother energy who watched Hasan rack up the views with his political rants and thought “yeah I can do that too watch me own these takes.” Ethan stays winning by actually knowing what he’s talking about while Adam’s out here cosplaying as a political commentator with zero substance. But yeah, I went from about 43,000 to 100,000 in just three months, I think. Yeah, that was in a straight line. I went in a straight line to 135,000. So, I pretty much quadrupled my account. No, tripled my accounts in about three months back in early 2014. And then I shorted PLUG. And I kind of lost... That was my biggest loss back then. I think I lost like 35,000, 40,000. I'm gonna show you guys where I lost. That was my first big loss that I remember. I felt really shitty about it. I'm gonna move it. On this day here, or was... Yeah, on this day here, March 10, 2014. I think I lost about 30% of my account or 25% of my account shorting this thing. Then it crashed. I don't think I made many money that day. I don't think I had borrows or... There was something. But I do remember on this day here... These two days when it stopped bounce about 50% in two sessions. I made most of that big loss back. And after that, it was pretty much straight up again. As you can see on the chart, it's pretty much straight up. And the next big loss came back in October 2014 where I lost, I think I lost 50% of my money that day. Or close to.
