Blockchains still broadcast every transaction publicly. Every stablecoin payment leaks the amount, the sender, and the recipient. We’re excited to share that Tempo is building Zones for businesses that need privacy: private blockchains that are interoperable with the rest of Tempo for stablecoin use cases like payroll, treasury, and settlement.

Congrats on copying Ethereum L2s 🤣 This is similar to ZKsync Prividiums, Scroll Cloak, etc, but the liquidity benefits of Tempo L1 are much worse than Ethereum. Also, IMO this should only count as confidentiality, not privacy, since the operator can see all my transactions.

Privacy on blockchains today usually comes with a bad tradeoff. Public chains expose sensitive business data despite pseudonymity and most private systems give up interoperability and shared liquidity or create operational complexity. Zones are built to give businesses privacy without cutting them off from the rest of Tempo.

Each Tempo Zone is run by a trusted operator such as a financial institution that processes transactions and sees all activity by design. Users can see their balances and transactions, and operators can provide privacy for their users while retaining familiar access controls for their teams.

Tempo Zones keep assets connected to Tempo Mainnet. Transactions inside a Zone stay private from the public, while funds still move across Mainnet, other Zones, onramps, offramps, and onchain liquidity. For example, a payroll company can run payroll on a zone, while still letting its employees access international offramps.

Funds stay locked on Tempo Mainnet and can only be withdrawn by the user who owns them. Tempo’s compliance tooling including allowlists, blocklists, and freeze rules continue to apply across every Zone.

Today, we’re building Zones in close collaboration with a small number of design partners serious about privacy that want to use stablecoins in their businesses. If you’re exploring stablecoins and want to learn more about how we’re building Zones or become a design partner, reach out to us.

hey thats awesome but is it true tempo operators can still see all acitvites and also censor them based on their own compliance reasons cause thats an awesome larp of privacy and even blockchain :)

I’m sorry but why does this need to be a blockchain? If I wanted to use something that’s centralized and can be frozen at any time I’ll just use legacy payment rails

@antonttc every payroll transaction leaking amounts on-chain is a real problem. nothing usable has filled the gap since tornado cash went down

@xcomerc20 is not about privacy! It's about insider trading. Nothing else.

@tempo dit you know hathor:native, you get private transactions right in the public chain. No fragmentation, no UX nightmare.

privacy at the protocol layer is what we need and @zano_project has built that. need a private stable coin? @freedomdollar5 is your answer. you're welcome.

Most enterprise privacy solutions force a tradeoff: compliance OR confidentiality. Locking funds on Mainnet while keeping zones operator-visible is a clean way to thread that needle. Watching this closely🧐🧐🧐

InterNull provides better privacy than tempo and that too without creating a separate chain. Creating separate chain to provide privacy is easy as you control the chain and therefore control who sees what. All you had to do was create partnerships with companies who will use it and that was because backers like paradigm. Users don’t have to bridge assets to temp to achieve privacy . You need to build protocol that creates privacy on chain where user assets exist.

21 major financial institutions are joining forces to enter the stablecoin race and will be using a public blockchain instead of building in their own walled garden "Citi, Goldman, other global banks, and asset managers team up on stablecoin venture. This is 21 major financial institutions committing to establishing a new stablecoin company during the second half of 2026, subject to closing conditions. This is Bank of America, Capital One, Citi, Goldman, Wells Fargo, Fidelity, WisdomTree, Deutsche Bank, Santander, UBS, MUFG, and more." "This was announced at the end of last year, that there were 10 of them looking at potentially maybe considering the chance that they would do something. Well, now we have a firm date and a firm plan, and that has increased from 10 to 21 institutions. They're saying that they will have a dollar-denominated stablecoin by the beginning of 2027, and that a euro stablecoin is the next priority, with additional G7 currencies potentially following." "The potential use cases they've floated are cross-border payments, asset settlement, wholesale and institutional transactions, but importantly, potential retail payments, which also was not in the initial proposal." "I also found it very, very good news that the tokens are intended to operate on public blockchains rather than exclusively inside a private bank network." "They have not announced what public blockchains that will be, but I can assure you that when they do, that will be extremely bullish for the underlying tokens. It's big news that it is not going to be behind a walled garden."
