blocking scenes in the holodeck

This is Dreams on PS5, and the thought process is: I like to block scenes in 3d for paintings/shot design because it gives you spatial coherence if you have multiple shots to figure out, but I find it easily can devolve into asset management headaches, which I'm just fed up with

Dreams is designed to be accessible for casual users so it forces you to keep things simple & you can work very fast. Here I just show 2 angles, but the beauty of having a full 3d scene is that you can capture all the angles you need and all the spatial relationships are coherent

I don't know if you've heard of it, but I think you're gonna love Quill ( This is an example from BrunoHanzamagic

I had not, thanks for the tip! Will look into it. Very cool example

Whoah looks like you've been very quick to adapt! How's thr learning curve been?

Thanks! It's soooooo intuitive! The UI is genius, everything just makes sense! 😂😭 I haven't gotten into any of the animation tools yet but modeling and layout are already feeling pretty natural

@MartinNebelong It's so cool to see you jump on the train. Maybe I could vibe code an free / open source equivalent for making such scenes on PC. We could all use something like this for quick brainstorming / doodling. Not sure about 3D input support, but rendering / tooling I can do.

@MartinNebelong That would be amazing!! It's definitely a point of friction that it's on PS only and can't export 3d scenes. Someone needs to build something like this for PC if MM truly won't.

@MartinNebelong What is the simplest version / demo that could still be somehow helpful? Can you list the features you absolutely need? I will launch a prototype. We'll see what AI can do with solid guidance.

@MartinNebelong I'm just going to start listing all of its features 😂 but really it's the speed enabled by the signed distance field approach. You really feel the absence of polys or voxels. Scenes are like 1MB. Everything loads instantly. Sculpt/paint/light/layout with no separation at all

@MartinNebelong Also, just food for thought but ... what would be huge is actually a Dreams scene reader and converter on PC. Dreams may be discontinued, but a physical copy of it and a used PS4 is like $70. Being able to output these scenes as meshes or voxels would allow all sorts of workflows

Is this a psvr thing only? only way to do this easily in quest is gravity sketch but it lacks lighting & fluidity

It is PSVR only yes, which is kind of a crime tbh

That’s really cool

Thanks, it's a blast to use too

Yo, what is this program and is it on meta or some shit.

It's Dreams on Playstation

Shit, thought it was some meta thing I could use on my quest 2.

I wish!

I know there's a modelling app on VR, and a graffiti app. But this looks cool as hell

Can confirm, it is cool as hell!

@MartinNebelong Oh shoot!!!!

Wow! This is incredible!

O.O ok. This is even more intriguing than your normal posts. Weird cute little fuzzy cursor guy, Decker looking for Replicants in a voice over, floating, non obstructive tools sets… is this a game mod? Some art you did to make it look like that? Editing software you recorded?

Dreams on PS4/5. It's a full game maker kit but finding it to be a great 3d sketching tool

YOOOOO DREAMS SO MUCH WIN

9 year old me would be screaming
