1) Gausman does this every single pitch, and 2) the ump with the worst view called the balk. That’s why he lost his mind. Awful awful call.

@brood_edge How the fuck is that a balk? He did the two leg movements he does every single pitch, came to a complete stop, waited almost two full seconds, threw the pitch, and had it caught. Only when the ball was caught did the ump with the worst view call a balk.

I said this on one of the Bucknor plays, but umps are going to start enforcing their will on non ABS reviewable/challengeable plays to feel in control of things

Kevin Gausman delivery is essentially a balk almost every time with a runner on. MLB has always had this problem where some umps call it and some don’t. Having said that this scenario they have widely accepted so not really sure why he felt the need to grab that one. As for Schneider you can’t come out and argue a ball/non balk. Pretty much an auto ejection. Took longer than I thought

Gausman has been doing the same thing on every pitch for ten years, been heavily scrutinized, and MLB is fine with it. None of the base umps called a balk, just the grandstanding home plate ump who evidently missed the memo. Schneider is a great person, smart dude and a great leader. Gausman does that rock back and forth when somebody is on all the time. Never see a balk called. The ejection did give John an opportunity to show the dugout some life as his team is injured, sick and just not playing well at all out of the gates.
