HoYoverse (the devs behind Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero) are working on several very large Gacha games. Battle Chess was a brilliant 1988 game by Interplay Entertainment that revolutionized chess gaming. Pieces animate vividly on the board, exploding into hilarious, brutal combat sequences during captures. So, instead of the (many) rather dry and standard chess games that existed, Battle Chess took the more playful path. For a while, I tried all the different battle animations, sacrificing pieces , just to see how they would perish. All jokes aside, it got me into chess more than anything else. Did you play it back in the day?

Israel has extended the detention of two activists who were arrested on board a flotilla bound for Gaza, where they intended to deliver humanitarian assistance. Saif Abu Keshek, a Spanish national, and Brazilian, Thiago Avila, were taken to Israel while more than 100 other pro-Palestinian activists on the boats were taken to the Greek island of Crete. The Israeli navy intercepted their flotilla in international waters last week and a court ruled for the pair to be held for at least six more days.
