Sounds like funds are being diverted away from intended purpose. What possible objection to an independent, transparent review is legitimate.

What we have here is how things exist, operate, and are governed in the real world versus how Big Ed - specifically THE/THEY University of Virginia - operates and is governed. “And Never the Twain shall meet.” If these two approaches to governance bumped into one another after coexisting for centuries, they would not recognize one another. They are THAT different from one another.

If nothing illegal is going on, then why shouldn’t an audit verify the claim? Sunlight is the best disinfectant. Does sound like something fishy is going on, though.

Why do donors put money into foundations that last more than a decade or two, when they know there name and memory will eventually be trashed so their gift can be be spent on something they wouldn’t approve of? Their legacy would be better served with short term gifts.

So Hardie doesn't practice what he preaches. That tells me all I need to know about his character.

“We are not doing anything illegal.” = “We are using the money for our own agenda.” —which probably violates the charter of that specific endowment. Ask for the original charter of the endowment!

"Evil boasts" and guilty people claim outrage when asked the most simple questions. Remember when you knew a bad report card was coming and so the mere mention of mom opening the day's mailbox had you deflecting?! Because you knew what was to be found behind the mailbox door.

Of course they are...if not why the overreaction. Probably some surreptitious DEI program....

@UVA I have the same concern. Allow an investigation.
