Bob taught Michael a critical skill at a very young age called Visualization. In order to achieve something great in real life, you must first achieve it in your mind. You have to create a mental picture before you manifest it in real life.

This is Bob Bowman. He's the man behind the success of Michael Phelps. Bob taught Michael a technique that made him break all world records. Here's that technique:

Visualization is the act of repeating a series of events in your mind that you want to achieve in real life. Bob made Michael swim not just in the pool, but also in his mind. He prepared him to be ready for both good & bad situations at the very young age of 12-13.

He made his mental training in such a way that Michael used to imagine both positive & negative possibilities. Michael literally made a video library of every possible event that could occur at the tournament. Bob used to call it videotape

These videotapes used to include imaginative incidents of: What if my suit rip-off? What if my glasses break down? Planning for the worst made him panic-free. He doesn't have to worry about anything. He already has a blueprint for every possibility. Whether it's good or bad.

How can you start with visualization? First things first, you need to learn how to relax your body & come into a calm state. Bob advised the same thing to Michael. What are the criteria for mastering visualization?

1. It should be vivid 2. You should rehearse every possibility many times 3. Experience it like it is already happening to you in the present Micahel didn't swim for the first time in a tournament. He had already run 1000 times & won 1000 times in his mental field.

Everybody has heard about routines. Some even follow a physical routine. But Bowman gave a mental routine to Michael. He asked Michael to play videotapes at night before he slept.

These videotapes used to have clips of every possibility of the race. Phelps would visualize every moment from his starting position on top of the blocks, through each stroke, until he merged from the pool, victorious, with dripping off his face.

The real catch here is repetition You have to practice it daily not just occasionally. You have to ingrain every scene in your subconscious. So in a real game, your subconscious can overtake your conscious.

Always remember that things work smoothly when it's controlled by the subconscious. Last but not least - master how to set a goal.

Not just any goal. Clear & specific goal. You can't visualize what you don't know  You have to know clearly what & when you want.
