Managers getting tossed for arguing balls and strikes certainly will be likely in the ABS era. Bobby fighting for his players…always in season. He was the best!

Irony there is that Glavine, Smoltz and Maddux made their living in the ‘90s wayyyyyy off the outside of the plate. Pitches that would be viral videos today, and elicit calls for the umpire to be fired, were *routinely* called strikes then. And to this day nobody knows why.

Greg Maddux told my favorite Bobby ejection story. Greg came back to the dugout and told Bobby, "the ump is squeezing me on the corner", so Bobby goes out and gets tossed. Later, John Smoltz asks Greg, "were you really getting squeezed"? Greg said no, I just wondered if he'd go.

Just watched Bobby get ejected by a pitch from a Braves pitcher that was at least 6 inches outside and called a ball. I’m guessing something else was involved there.

They didn't use to automatically eject managers for arguing balls and strikes. Had they done so, many old-time managers would have had WAY more than that. Earl Weaver would have had 200, 300 if he'd managed as many games as Cox.
