Vedang Raina outshines DILJIT DOSANJH in Imtiaz Ali 's Main Wapas Aaunga. Before anything else, if Naseeruddin Shah saab is a part of a film, he automatically becomes its emotional and artistic centre. As a 95-year-old man battling Alzheimer's and dementia, constantly travelling back in time to the love of his life, he is beyond remarkable. You can keep praising him endlessly and still not do justice to his artistry. But what a performance by Vedang Raina! He has completely immersed himself in a character that is far from easy to portray. The pronunciation, the nuances, the emotional depth and the internal conflictsโ€”everything feels deeply lived-in. For such a young actor, this is a surprisingly extraordinary and mature performance. He has truly done a "doob ke" performance. Diljit Dosanjh, interestingly, hasn't promoted the film much, but his presence remains important. Through the film, he raises significant questions about Partition and the unresolved traumas that continue to affect the subcontinent. When someone of Diljit's stature becomes part of such conversations, it inevitably adds weight to the discourse. Imtiaz Ali has crafted an extremely subtle film that works on multiple levels. There are layers upon layers in the storytelling. This is not an easy subject to tackle, but he has gone the distance and delivered a deeply moving and remarkably restrained film. The writing is outstanding. A.R.Rahman 's music is exceptional. The score functions almost like a stream of consciousness, quietly flowing through the narrative and touching the deepest emotional veins within us. It stays with you long after the film ends. Sharvari ๐Ÿฏ has delivered a very fine performance as well. Once again, a complete immersion into the character. Her diction, pronunciation and emotional conviction are consistently impressive. Main Wapas Aaunga is an important film about displacement, refugees, memory, love, loss and the devastating human consequences of war. It reminds us that history may be political, but trauma is always personal. A must-watch film. Do not miss it.
